Avy amin’ilay voronkely antsoina hoe “Sorohitra” izany. Raha adika ara-bakiteny, dia midika hoe “Am-bohitra misy sorohitra” ny hoe Ambohitsorohitra.

Io vorona io dia fantatra amin’ny anarana hafa koa hoe “Alouette Malagasy” na “Madagascar Lark”, ary ny anarany siantifika dia Eremopterix hova. Karazam-borona tsy hita afa-tsy eto Madagasikara izy io.

The Arboretum d'Antsokay, with support from the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund and WWF Madagascar are helping Aire Protégée Amoron'i Onilahy (100,482 ha), a vital corridor connecting Madagascar’s northern and southern spiny forests.

The area provides water, supports agriculture, and shelters lemurs, birds, reptiles, and wetland species.

Our project focuses on:

🌿 Forest protection & patrolling

- Community patrolling in three areas (Ankazomena, Ambiky and Mahaleotse).

- Monitoring forest resources and biodiversity to support law enforcement.

🌿 Restoration with native trees and ravine stabilization

- Community-based nurseries producing native and endemic seedlings.

- Planting campaigns with local communities

- Ravine stabilization and promotion of agroforestry to reduce erosion.

- Eradication of invasive species through mechanical control and community engagement.

🌿 Community support with sustainable farming and leadership training

- Demonstration of climate-resilient agricultural techniques at Antsokay Arboretum.

- Promotion of agroforestry, drip irrigation and agroecology to diversify communities livelihood and support sustainable water use.

L'Arboretum d'Antsokay, avec le soutien du Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund et WWF Madagascar accompagne la gestion de l'Aire Protégée Amoron’i Onilahy (100 482 ha), un corridor vital reliant les forêts épineuses du nord et du sud de Madagascar.

Cette zone fournit de l’eau, soutient l’agriculture et abrite des lémuriens, des oiseaux, des reptiles et des espèces des zones humides.

Notre projet se concentre sur :

🌿 Protection de la forêt et patrouilles

- Patrouilles communautaires dans trois zones (Ankazomena, Ambiky et Mahaleotse).

- Suivi des ressources forestières et de la biodiversité pour soutenir l’application des lois.

🌿 Restauration avec des espèces indigènes et stabilisation des ravins

- Pépinières communautaires produisant des plants indigènes et endémiques.

- Campagnes de plantation avec les communautés locales.

- Stabilisation des ravins et promotion de l’agroforesterie pour réduire l’érosion.

- Éradication des espèces invasives par contrôle mécanique et engagement communautaire.

🌿 Soutien aux communautés avec agriculture durable et formation en leadership

- Démonstration de techniques agricoles résilientes au climat à l’Arboretum d’Antsokay.

- Promotion de l’agroforesterie, de l’irrigation goutte-à-goutte et de l’agroécologie pour diversifier les moyens d'existence des communautés et promouvoir la gestion durable de l'eau.
