ng, residencies, exhibitions, concerts and events in a comfortable, peaceful, open, laid back and welcoming atmosphere.. It`s a bold adventure to providing a new scene and social platform for artists, craftspeople, students, researchers, activists, performers and professionals to meet visitors and to share ideas, dreams and visions. A place where ideas can be tested by peers and spark new ideas for social entrepreneurship, artistic growth and experience. A power hub for a local community which sorely needs a boost after years of austerity and social, economic, political and educational, ecological traumas. Organization is a flat, holistic, anarchistic approach, where projects are realized by means of resource orientated grassroots management. People are brought into projects based on interest, personal qualifications, experience and practical skills. Inhouse Features
The house is two stories above the planned music cave below ground. Top floor has several rooms for workshops, meeting space and storage room. Ground floor, side door leads to office space. Main entrance goes across a sunny terrace, through French doors to the social living space and further into the Beta Bar, which provides the onsite shop and the essential fresh and fruity refreshments for hanging out in a multicultural environment. Comfortable seats and tables are easily moved to form social seating, around a micro-library of donated books and other media, in multiple languages, open for onsite reading or exchange. Metal- and woodcrafts workshop Tsy Kilalao, is planned to be constructed in the rear of the site. The aim is to produce materials and crafts for project activities and for sale in the onsite shop and for international export. Water Box Indie Place is placed in the north-east of the garden, and is a self-sustained and fully functional, rainwater-harvesting and -recycling system for: 4 compost toilets and urinal, with urine separation, 3 showers, laundry/wash space and kitchen/cooking space. The Water Box Indie Place is a site specific installation, making use of locally available resources in appropriate and adapted permaculture technologies. All in one, recycled and redesigned, prototype. The garden offers special features and comfortable, spacious and creatively re-designed seats under shady pergola or in the warming sunshine. The gardens residential campsite is under construction: two spacious tippies, fitted with mattresses and bedding and comfortable, home-made cushions will be perfect for games, bbq and music around the campfire. Local association Green Pilots Antsirabe will offer seasonal permaculture activities and workshops onsite. The permaculture garden will provide the kitchen and bar with seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs and berries. From the moment you enter the gate, Indie Place strikes you as a place for fun and activity. The resourceful thinking of re-using discarded, stored materials from the site, and from local recycling outlets, is apparent from every angle. Experimental, yet, masterly hand crafted by local craftsmen on site, comfortable and beautifully simple. Big hand to Indie Place, Mahafaly, Vatofotsy, Antsirabe, a treasure of a place, to be filled up by travelling artists, local craftspeople and you and me alike :)!!!!
