The two latest issues of Museum International, ’s academic journal, focused on provenance research. To continue the discussion and share best practices, ICOM is organising a webinar bringing together the editors and several authors from both issues.

💬 Speakers will explore provenance research across different types of collections and discuss its main challenges and implications, particularly for collections acquired in colonial contexts. The webinar will also look at how museums and governing bodies can support and promote provenance research.

🏛️ In the context of our partnership with the International Journal of Intangible Heritage, we are sharing an article from this issue entitled ‘Museums and intangible cultural heritage: a memoir and a meditation’, written by Alissandra Cummins, former president of ICOM and an honorary member of the organisation. In this article, she reflects on ICOM’s role in the recognition of intangible heritage, looking back on her time as President.
