--- INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION

Education is at the core of our Mission at Hay Kanto. We provide school supplies for our kids. We organize arts and play-based after-school activities with their school. We provide lunches and snacks for our kids during our activities. And we provide warm clothes during winter so that the cold weather won't be on the way of their education.

NOVEMBER 2025, We centered our Nevember 2025 session on the theme of " ". We made our own "memory card games" using old cardboard, markers and cut-outs. We practiced fine motor coloring skills. And we finished with kinesthetic games: "Skittles", where the kids practiced eye-hands coordination, team work and patience.

Just a pure moment of joy and sharing.

, Sept. 2025 Catch-up post --- We kicked off our 2025-2026 school year with a visit from the American School of Antananarivo. A special day to share good time, creativity, and positive energy.

During this session, 32 kids we support at our partner school, EPP Soamandrakizay enjoyed the outdoor games, craft activities, and sidewalk chalk arts organized by ASA Service Learning group. And, of course, our community mobilizers prepared delicious food for the kids before all activities started.

In 2013, Hay Kanto was founded by former ASA teachers, and we are proud and grateful that our relationship with ASA is stronger than ever almost 13 years later. Thank you, ASA, for standing by our side all those years.

The school year just started, and please stay tuned to learn more about the many activities and stories we are all building together for a healthier childhood for our Hay Kanto Kids.

--- What a wonderful month May has been for us! It really takes a village to raise a child, and that's what we did with our May Community Lunch. Our community mobilization volunteers prepared delectable traditional meals for 160 children in May honoring the kids, our local and international volunteers and the school we work with: Rice, chicken, a variety of healthy vegetables, fresh fruit juice... and ... A BIG CELEBRATORY CHOCOLATE CAKE. Such a great moment of , , and !!!

Thank you, dear everyone, for donating toward our fundraiser organized by our friend and longtime volunteer . Our collective work really makes something beautiful and magical happen in the most needed places and time.

---- What have we been up to today? We love those impromptu days off, just like today. We spent today introducing our kids new games. Today, we chose , a set gifted to us by our friend, . We also love our coloring pages, so we perfected our drawing and coloring skills, always a favorite go-to activity among our kids. What else, we also made glides and lovely costumable greeting cards given to us by our friends from . As foundational principles of our work, we encourage , , and in our group during our sessions.

We value any contribution our at-large brings to our mission. So, thank you so much for the time you donated to Hay Kanto, all the gifts and material donations, but also thank you for your financial contributions which kept us active and prosperous in our service work to the children and their community.

--- Since 2020, Hay Kanto has built a strong partnership with the School , who is now our physical home. EPP Soamandrakizay provides free education to children from economically challenged families in Androhibe and beyond. Hay Kanto's Arts and Science clubs are open to students from the school. We support many kids with school supplies (including clothing items) at the beginning of the school year. We also donate teaching materials such as chalks, stationaries, arts supplies, and educational posters to their preschool classes.

Thanks to our partnerships with and , we were able to donate full P.E. equipments to the school as we share resources and opportunities with them for our children. Thank you so much, dear partners!

--- Hay Kanto is a community-led and volunteer-ran organization that works toward supporting children and youth from disadvantaged families enjoy their childhood and be the actor of their own development. We offer community arts and science clubs, community lunches, Summer and Winter clothes donation, School reinsertion, wellness education classes, and an ongoing support to the kids' school (school supplies, PE equipments, stationaries, etc.). We try to do as much as we can!!!

We are very proud and thankful for the amount of support we get from our Hay Kanto at-large community. We are able to do so much because of your contributions to our mission and work. --- Welcome back to our place of learning, fun, and discovery. Unlike usual, we had a larger crowd joining our sessiok this month, all at once!!!!! Funny story! Our school is just accross a festivity venue and on that day a wedding was expected. So, the kids waited outside the school to see the bridal car, the bridal es**rt, and the bride herself... they didn't want to go in until the beautiful bride showed up... so we started late, and we had more kids than expected for one session. But why not!? We like to encourage our kids to and in their surroundings.

We had fun commenting on the wedding, playing, and busying ourselves with our recycled coloring pages ... and of course, .

We had our last fundraising event in 2019. Can you believe it? Six long years ago. Yet, we were able to sustain our activities in the meantime thanks to our generous community. This year, we are very pleased and grateful to our friend and longtime science club volunteer , who kindly offered to support us with our joint event.

Over the past 12 years, we have created and delivered education and community care for vulnerable children and families in Antananarivo and beyond thanks to our strong community of committed volunteers who work tirelessly to provide the best educational experience for our children.
