The Aspinall Foundation Madagascar

The Aspinall Foundation Madagascar Our mission is to work with local partners here in Madagascar to conserve endangered species and their habitats.

Our primary project is called “Saving Prolemur simus” and aims to save the Greater Bamboo Lemur – considered to be one of the most endangered primates in the world – from imminent extinction. During three years of intensive searching the remaining rainforests of eastern Madagascar, our collaborative teams of Malagasy scientists and local community members succeeded in doubling the number of known

sites where this lemur can be found. We now focus on helping local communities manage these sites for their conservation and the long-term future of the bamboo lemur populations.

When habitat thins,...

Restocking fish within the in
Our long-term monitoring, conducted in collaboration with fishers shows a steady decline in endemic fishes populations within the lakes in Marofototra. In collaboration with Drpeb Betsiboka, we have restocked The lake with in the designated zone of the VOI and Tilapia in the area open to fishing.
