EEML 2026 would not have been possible without our amazing volunteers! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make the school happen. From helping participants to making sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes, you were an essential part of EEML 2026. 🙌

And of course, we closed the school with the famous and well-deserved krempita at Gradska in Cetinje. 🍰 😋

We couldn’t have done it without you! ✨

Day 4 of EEML Summer School, time to get some fresh air! 🏔️

The morning kicked off with Tomo Popović from HPC Montenegro, followed by Maria Brbić on AI for Biology and an Industry Keynote from UiPath. Matija Tapušković rounded out the lecture morning with AI for Math 🧠

Then it was time to trade the lecture halls for the great outdoors; the whole group headed up Mount Lovćen for a well-deserved outdoor activity, taking in some of Montenegro’s most stunning scenery ⛰️

And to close out the day... Gala dinner in Podgorica! 🎉 Good food, good music, and even better company 💃

Day 3 of EEML Summer School, halfway through the week! 🎉

Started strong with Federico Barbero on Information Propagation, followed by a VC Talk from Credo, always fun to hear the industry perspective. Then Clare Lyle took us through Continual Learning before lunch.

After the break, Razvan Pascanu closed out the afternoon lectures with a talk on stochastic learning in ML (maybe titled “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once” 😄? ).

Then hands-on with the Mechanistic Interpretability tutorial, and capped off the day with Poster Session hashtag 📊

But the night wasn’t over yet — capped things off with the AI Social, hosted by Refractal x Credo, running late into the night 🎊

Day 2 of EEML Summer School! 🎉

Started the day with great sessions: Andreea Deac walked us through Reinforcement Learning fundamentals, then Kyunghyun Cho took us through “Upside Down Statistics,” mind-bending stuff before lunch, but so worth it ☕🧠

After a lunch break, we got into mentorship sessions and TA breakouts. Then back into it with a Reinforcement Learning tutorial, getting hands-on with the concepts from the morning.

But the real fun kicked off in the evening - 80 posters on display for our first dynamic poster session, everyone walking around, asking questions, geeking out over each other’s research. So much good work being shared.

And to top it all off... movie night with popcorn! 🍿🎬 Because even at an ML summer school, you need a little downtime to unwind with friends.

On to the next one! 🚀

Day 1 of EEML Summer School, and what a start! 🎉

Kicked things off with opening remarks, then straight into the deep end: Sarath Chandar gave us an Introduction to Deep Learning, followed by Philip Isola on Representational Geometry and Alignment in Neural Nets.

After a well-deserved lunch break, Sander Dieleman took us through Diffusion models, and he did not disappoint.

Then into the Multimodal Learning tutorial, getting hands-on with everything we’d just learned about.

And to wrap up an incredible first day... Welcome drinks! 🥂 Great way to meet everyone, and kick off the EEML community vibe.

One day in, and already feeling inspired by the people and the science. Bring on the rest of the week! 🚀

Before diving into lectures, EEML 2026 kicked off with some incredible numbers 📊
This year’s edition received 2,656 applications, the most popular EEML has ever been, with an acceptance rate of just ~7%. We’re welcoming 290 participants from 70 countries around the world, including Peru and Mexico, Nigeria, Tunisia, Bangladesh, and Australia. More than half of our accepted applicants are affiliated with Eastern European countries. 🌎🌍🌏
Our community is primarily made up of PhD students (32%), Master’s students (27%), and Undergraduate students (23%) - plus industry representatives (7%) - and even 6 high school students! 🎉
EEML has come a long way since its first edition (TMLSS 2018 in Cluj-Napoca) - through Bucharest, Kraków, Budapest, Vilnius, Košice, Novi Sad, and Sarajevo - and this year, for the first time, we’re bringing it to Montenegro 🇲🇪, hosted in the historic city of Cetinje.
Huge thanks to our amazing sponsors, Google DeepMind and UiPath as Diamond sponsors, alongside Jump Trading, Coinis, Google, Jane Street, Bitdefender, and many more, for making this possible. 🙌
