Animal Center "The Island of Hope" in Moldova Welcome to "The Island of Hope" dog shelter in Moldova!It is run by volunteers, who are caring passionately for the lives of abandoned dogs.

"The Island of Hope" is a non-profit organisation based in Chebanovka, Anenii Noi, 35 km from Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. We have representation in Germany and The Netherlands. Moldova is considered to be the poorest country in Europe. Our dog shelter's main purpose is to protect stray animals in Moldova, who are in danger due to massive and cruel stray animals killing supported by Moldavian

government. We do this by providing shelter, food and medical care as well as countering the overpopulation of stray animals by using humane methods. Furthermore, we seek to inform Moldova’s inhabitants on the situation in which stray animals find themselves and do our best to create an environment in which people and animals can coexist. Even though the Moldavian government keeps on promising to improve their ways of dealing with stray animals, up till now their tactics have been incredibly brutal and violent. Dogs get poisoned on the streets, they are gassed and burned in a special government facility. Our dog shelter takes in all stray dogs in need of help and tries to find them a loving family, who will adopt them shortly after they join our shelter.
