o Restaurarea a 55 de hectare de habitate naturale, inclusiv zone umede și habitate silvostepice;
o Plantarea a 50.000 de arbori și arbuști din specii autohtone;
o dezvoltare a 10 km de coridoare ecologice pentru a îmbunătăți conectivitatea habitatelor;
o Promovarea soluțiilor bazate pe natură și dezvoltarea infrastructurii verzi-albastre;
o Colectarea a cel puțin 20 de tone de deșeuri din zonele umede vizate;

How is EUROPARC Strengthening Connectivity and Protected Areas in Europe?

Without connectivity, even well-managed protected areas can become isolated “islands,” vulnerable to ecological collapse.

Turning global environmental priorities into local action in Moldova!

Verde e Moldova is proud to launch its GEF Small Grants Program strategic project focused on the participatory restoration of wetlands and natural habitats in the Lower Prut Floodplain – Cahul–Manta.
With support from and , the project will combine ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, Nature-based Solutions, green-blue infrastructure, and community participation.
Our ambition is to restore priority habitats, strengthen ecological connectivity, engage communities and young people in biodiversity monitoring, and develop a locally led restoration model that can be replicated across Moldova.
We believe lasting environmental change happens when communities become active partners and long-term stewards of nature.

1 September 2026 – Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Day🌿

🎉 We’re celebrating the 36th anniversary of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve!
Today we are celebrating one of Europe’s most spectacular and valuable natural treasures: the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.
🌿Thirty-six years ago, in September 1990, following a recommendation by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and as a result of the efforts of a group of scientists, the Romanian government designated the entire Danube Delta and some neighbouring areas—covering a total area of 580,000 ha—as the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (DDBR). Thus, the foundation was laid for an ongoing mission of protection, conservation, and respect for nature.
🌿September 1 was designated as Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Day in accordance with the provisions of Order No. 539 of May 9, 2008, issued by the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development.
This date was chosen to mark the entry into force of Romanian Government Decision No. 983 of 1990, which designated the entire Danube Delta and its neighbouring geographical areas as a biosphere reserve. At the same time, the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority was established as a specialized institution to implement appropriate management measures for the conservation of the region’s natural heritage and its sustainable development.

Universal value of Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve:
🌍 Triple international status: Included in the UNESCO “Man and the Biosphere” network (1990), on the Ramsar Convention List (1991), and as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site (1991).
🦅 The Heart of the Natura 2000 Network: Europe’s best-preserved wetland, home to thousands of species of flora and fauna, designated as a Special Protection Area for Birds and a Site of Community Importance.
🏅 European Excellence: The value of the natural heritage and the effectiveness of the ecological management implemented within the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve were recognized in 2000 with the award of the European Diploma for Protected Areas (renewed in 2005, 2010, and 2020).
🌿The Danube Delta is not only home to breathtaking landscapes and biodiversity unique in the world, but also to local communities that keep the traditions and spirit of the place alive.
Happy anniversary to the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve!
Happy anniversary to everyone who protects and loves it! 🌿

- Monitorizarea cantității și calității sedimentelor – pentru a înțelege procesele de acumulare, caracteristicile sedimentelor și eventualele riscuri pentru ecosistem;
- Cartografiere GIS – pentru localizarea și integrarea spațială a datelor de teren;

is underway in Ulaanbaatar, the first of the three Rio Convention COPs to convene in 2026.
The conference coincides with the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, drawing overdue attention to ecosystems that cover more than half of the Earth's land surface and support the livelihoods of around 500 million people.
As a UNCCD partner since 2011, IUCN is following and contributing to the negotiations, with a clear message: COP17 must be a turning point for implementation.
IUCN is also hosting a pavilion in the Blue Zone under the theme "From Promise to Practice: Nature Delivering Now," providing a platform for dialogue on turning global commitments into on-the-ground action.
