FLEX Moldova The FLEX Program is an exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. In 1992, U.S. Senator Bill Bradley cosponsored, together with U.S.

Congressman Jim Leach, the historic legislation providing for the FLEX program. Funding was approved by the United States Congress to extend a hand of friendship from the people of the United States of America to the people of the countries of the former Soviet Union and has since expanded to other countries. FLEX is fully funded by the United States government and administered by the Bureau of Ed

ucational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. The program provides competitively selected secondary school students with a scholarship to spend a year living in the U.S. with a volunteer host family, attending a U.S. high school to foster understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries around the world. The FLEX scholarship competition is merit-based and open, at no cost, to applicants who meet the following requirements. Students with disabilities are also encouraged to participate in the competition.

The FLEX Pre-Departure Orientation in Moldova brought together 19 outstanding finalists for three intensive and inspiring days of preparation for their upcoming exchange journey in the United States.
Through interactive sessions and meaningful discussions, students explored essential topics designed to support their transition into a new environment.
The finalists also had the opportunity to connect with FLEX Alumni, who shared the best of the American experience: quality education, unique culture, sports, community life, and the opportunities that come from living and learning in the U.S.

We are proud of each finalist and excited to see the impact they will make as young ambassadors of Moldova during their exchange year

As part of the FLEX 2026–2027 Predeparture Orientation, finalists had the opportunity to hear from Joanne Kramb, Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in ChiΘ™inΔƒu, who shared words of encouragement as they prepare to begin this life-changing exchange to the United States.
Her remarks highlighted the value of educational exchange, leadership, and the enduring partnership between the United States and Moldova, inspiring students to make the most of this unique opportunity. It was a meaningful conversation filled with inspiration, curiosity, and excitement for the year ahead.
