Congress Club has officially begun!
Today, students from across Moldova gathered for the first session of Congress Club, beginning a journey into American history, government, and civic engagement.
Elise Crane, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, officially welcomed the participants, marking the beginning of the program and encouraging students to make the most of this opportunity to learn, exchange ideas, and engage with American history and democratic institutions.
The session took place in a hybrid format, connecting students from Chișinău, Bălți, Căușeni, Soroca, Cimișlia, Comrat, and Orhei, both in person and online.
Sam Cardona, a U.S. history teacher and PhD candidate in philosophy, introduced participants to the Founding Fathers and the historical context behind the Declaration of Independence. His presentation explored the people and ideas that shaped the founding of the United States, offering participants a deeper understanding of this defining period in American history.
Alisa Model, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, moderated the session, introducing participants to key events surrounding the Declaration of Independence and guiding them through team-building activities. These activities gave students an opportunity to connect with fellow participants and begin building relationships for future collaboration.
The first session set the stage for an engaging series of discussions on American history, government, and the principles that continue to shape the United States.
