𝗗𝗲 𝗹'𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗮̀ 𝗹'𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗹 𝗱'𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝘂 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Réuni ce 31 mars 2026 à Antibes, sous la présidence de Mme Isabelle Berro-Amadei, Conseiller du gouvernement - ministre des Relations Extérieures et de la Coopération de la Principauté de Monaco, notre Conseil d'Administration a validé les avancées majeures de l'année écoulée et des axes stratégiques de développement ambitieux.

L'action du MedFund se mesure aujourd'hui par des résultats tangibles pour la préservation de la Méditerranée :
- 22 Aires Marines Protégées (AMP) soutenues, réparties sur 8 pays (Albanie, Croatie, Grèce, Liban, Maroc, Monténégro, Tunisie, Turquie).
- 9 785 km² d'espaces marins et côtiers sécurisés.
- 6,9 millions d'euros engagés sur 5 ans, dont 3,12 millions d'euros déjà déployés sur le terrain.

Preuve de la solidité de notre modèle fiduciaire, la Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco renouvelle sa confiance et son partenariat stratégique en engageant 500 000 euros pour les 5 prochaines années. Cet investissement est décisif pour amplifier notre impact et sécuriser la gestion de nouvelles AMP.

Nous adressons nos sincères remerciements à la Ville d'Antibes Juan-les-Pins et au Conservatoire du littoral pour leur accueil au sein de Posidonia espace mer et littoral, site du Conservatoire du Littoral et pour leur engagement en faveur de la préservation du littoral méditerranéen.

La réussite de ce changement d'échelle repose sur la mobilisation de l'ensemble de nos partenaires et bailleurs.

Un grand merci à la ville d’Antibes Juan-Les-Pins pour nous avoir accueilli au sein de Posidonia Espace Mer et Littoral, site du Conservatoire du littoral et pour leur engagement en faveur de la préservation du littoral méditerranéen.

🌊✨ The MedFund met le cap sur la protection de la mer et du littoral à Jerba ! 🐟
L’équipe du MedFund a officiellement lancé la convention de financement pour l’aire marine et côtière protégée de Ras Rmal, en présence de Monsieur le Ministre de l’Environnement, Habib ABID, de Monsieur le Gouverneur de Médenine, du Directeur Général de l’ de Protection et d'Aménagement du Littoral Mr Mehdi BEN HAJ et du Trésorier du MedFund, Mr Fabrice BERNARD.
Plus de 60 participants étaient réunis : autorités, scientifiques, opérateurs touristiques, pêcheurs et l’association AJEM Association Jlij pour l'Environnement Marin جمعية جليج للبيئة البحرية pour renforcer la cogestion et la préservation des écosystèmes marins et côtiers de Jerba. 🌴🐠.
Cette initiative bénéficie du soutien du Global Environment Facility.

🌊 Launch of a New 5-Year Co-Management Partnership for the Ras Rmel MPA in Tunisia
We are proud to announce the signature of a 5-year funding agreement between Agence de Protection et d'Aménagement du Littoral (APAL), the local NGO Association Jlij pour l'Environnement Marin and The MedFund to support the co-management of the Jerba Ras Rmel Marine Protected Area.

Jerba Ras Rmel Marine Protected Area is the sixth granted MPA in Tunisia where national authorities and civil society will continue working hand in hand to ensure effective day-to-day management of the MPA. Thanks to the financial support of the Global Environment Facility, a total grant of 287 K USD over 5 years will be used to enhance governance, co-management, stakeholder engagement, scientific monitoring, promoting gender equality and economic activities sustainability.

🌊 Highlights from The MedFund’s participation to the Barcelona Convention COP24, 2-5 December, Cairo, Egypt : Exploring new partnership with Egypt to preserve the Mediterranean sea :
To date, The MedFund has committed more than €7 million in support of 22 marine protected areas in 8 Mediterranean countries.
As we look ahead to 2030, our ambition is clear
➡️ 40 Mediterranean MPAs granted by The MedFund across 10 countries, including Egypt, by 2030.
🇪🇬 A Spotlight on Egypt:
Taking the opportunity of COP24 in Cairo, promising discussions were held with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), regarding the country’s growing strategy for the creation and management of MPAs and OECMs along its Mediterranean coast. Egypt’s focus on marine conservation, from expanding its protected area network in the Mediterranean to exploring governance models for effective implementation and management, offers inspiring opportunities for collaboration.

🌊 Mediterranean Dialogue with Mrs Catherine Chabaud, Minister Delegate to the Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, and International Climate and Nature Negotiations, responsible for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

🌊 Highlights from participation to the Barcelona Convention COP24, 2-5 December, Cairo, Egypt
Joint side event with SPA RAC, UICN - Centre de coopération pour la Méditerranée and MedPAN-network: Stronger together for Mediterranean marine conservation
Our side event showcased how coordination and cooperation are essential to deliver effective MPAs and protect 30% of the Mediterranean by 2030.
Key takeaways:
🔹 According to MedPAN and SPA/RAC most updated data on Mediterranean MPA status, only 8.8% of the Mediterranean Sea is covered by officially designated MPAs, 23% of these MPAs are implementing their management plan, only 13% have a suitable budget and 83% are lacking MPA staff.
🔹 A coordinated regional approach is vital to boost management effectiveness across MPAs and SPAMIs.
🔹 Standards and tools like the IUCN Green List, IMET, and The MedFund’s management effectiveness tracking tool, are driving collective progress in measuring the efficiency of the existing MPAs and their compliance to regional standards.
🤝 Cooperation, harmonized tools and innovative mechanisms to secure long-term, sustainable financing for Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas are key to protect 30% of the Mediterranean by 2030.

🌊 Happening now in Cairo, Egypt : the launch of the Barcelona Convention COP24!

The MedFund is proud to take part in this high-level conference. As we look ahead to 2030, our goal remains clear: 40 Mediterranean MPAs granted by The MedFund in 10 Mediterranean countries including Egypt by 2030.

During the opening, H.E. Dr. Manel Awad, Minister of Local Development in Egypt, highlighted that:

“Protecting the Mediterranean marine environment is a priority in Egypt’s national strategy to safeguard biodiversity and move towards a blue economy and sustainable use of resources. Protecting the Mediterranean Sea is a shared responsibility, rooted in complementarity and collective action.”

We look forward to collaborating with Mediterranean countries and stakeholders committed to advancing effective and sustainable marine protection across the Mediterranean. 💙

The MedFund met le cap sur 2030 ! ⛵ 🐟

Le conseil d'administration du Fonds a octroyé 1.4M€ sur 5 ans à 6 aires marines protégées (AMP) de Türkiye, du Liban, de Croatie et de Tunisie afin de soutenir les initiatives locales de protection de la mer Méditerranée.
A ce jour The MedFund soutient 19 AMP dont 5 AMP de protection forte en Albanie, Tunisie, Maroc, Turquie, Monténégro, Liban, Croatie et Grèce.
