Join us for a talk about photographer Edward Quinn & Grace Kelly
Thursday 2nd April 2026 at 7pm.
Many people do not realise that the first photos taken of the young American actress Grace Kelly meeting Prince Rainier III of Monaco were by an Irish photographer. Edward Quinn worked the Cannes Film Festival in 1955 when the Oscar-winning actress was on the Riviera to promote her movie 'To Catch a Thief'. A year later 19th April 1956 she married her Prince.
One of Grace Kelly's promotional assignments as part of the American delegation at the Cannes Film Festival, consisted of a photo shoot at the Palace of Monaco with one of Europe’s most eligible bachelors.
Edward Quinn was assigned to cover it. The Irish-born photographer was based on the Riviera during that golden era. Enjoy discovering the star-studded era through his lens.
Tickets: €10 (includes a drink)

Lá Fhéile Bríde

In Ireland, 1st February marks the beginning of spring and the celebration of Lá Fhéile Bríde, St Brigid’s Day.

St Brigid has long symbolised hope, renewal and the feminine. The bank holiday today in Ireland provides an opportunity to recognise the remarkable contributions that Irish women have made and continue to make today across all domains, including culture and literature. Their influence is felt across the world.

We wish to congratulate Jeanne Sutton, an emerging, award-winning writer who is the recipient of The Ireland Funds Monaco spring bursary. We are delighted to host Jeanne at the library in Monaco for a month from mid-February. We invite you to join us for her talk Thursday 5th March 2026 at 7pm.
