The Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy (A.M.M.) was created in 2001 by parents of children suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy who decided to unite their resources and shared experience to support progress on scientific and medical research. e birth in 3500. Progressively serious, it is characterized by a weakening of muscles and leads to lung and cardiac complications that become fatal with the onset of adulthood. The life of these sick children is therefore one of increasing dependence on constant care and associated treatments. Although research has progressed significantly over the last ten years, notably with the gains in genetic therapy and thanks to the efforts of charity organizations, there remains a lot to do in order to find a cure for these children. Since 2001, Luc Pettavino, President of the association and engaged parent, with the precious logistical and organizational aid of the Monaco Yacht Show team, themed charity auctions from which all the proceeds are donated to the A.M.M. for the support of research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Every year, the Monaco Yacht Show also donates 50% per entrance proceeds.

If you're reading this you probably know that Only Watch is synonymous with beautiful unique watches auctioned for a good cause.
You might know that this cause is finding a cure to Duchenne muscular dystrophy and research on genetic diseases.

Since 2001, Luc Pettavino, President of the association and engaged parent, with the precious logistical and organizational aid of the Monaco Yacht Show team, themed charity auctions from which all the proceeds are donated to the A.M.M. for the support of research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Only Watch, a charity auction of unique watches designed to raise funds for research, was created in 2005. Over the past 15 years, thanks to the collective effort and generous involvement of the watch industry and the numerous partners (auction house, media, carriers...), the initiative has raised tens of millions of euros for research on Duchenne and allowed tremendous progress on this matter, with 99% of proceeds going directly to research projects (administration costs run under 1% thanks to everybody’s generosity).
Aurélie Goyenvalle, Chair of Excellence HandiMedEx, researcher at the Researcher at the UVSQ-INSERM, who has been implicated on the cause for the past 15 years says: “Thanks to Only Watch’s support we achieved two objectives: the first was to assemble a large field of experts on Duchenne’s disease to work together. The second was to acquire operational means to develop a new class of drugs for this disease. What did we develop? An intravenous drug that can pe*****te into all muscles, heart and other tissues.”
The goal is getting closer to our grip as clinical trials are approaching. But the road is still an arduous one - development costs are very heavy and obstacles may always arise. This challenge is a counter-clock one as thousands of lives of boys and men are at stake.
Luc Pettavino, founder of Only Watch, says: “All together we have won many battles: the battle of altruism and empathy, the battle of beauty and research of excellence, the battle of awareness for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Now, let’s continue pushing hard, and win the battle to cure this disease.”
