Last week, I traveled to Côte d’Ivoire with to visit a project that I’m supporting as part of the Maverick Collective.
Many girls get their first period without any information about menstruation or access to period products, and we’re on a mission to change that. Our project reaches over 20,000 young people with menstrual health education and sustainable period panties via PSI’s partner Be Girl.
The project is also adapting UNICEF’s period tracker app Oky to the local context - even down to the avatars designed by local girls. We met with girls, boys, and school staff in Korhogo District, spoke with traditional and religious leaders, and discussed the project with national government officials in hopes of future expansion.
