The opening of the Shamash School Museum in Baghdad is a truly moving moment for Iraqi Jewish heritage. This small Jewish community of just six people is doing remarkable work to preserve and share a history that stretches back more than 2,500 years. Congratulations to Dr. Eliyahu and her team for her dedication and tireless efforts. The American Sephardi Federation, our valued partner, has been a primary partner in this important work. We look forward to many more meaningful initiatives with the Jewish community of Iraq in the future.

يشكّل افتتاح متحف مدرسة شماش في بغداد حدثاً مهماً ومؤثراً في مسار الحفاظ على التراث اليهودي العراقي. فرغم أن عدد أفراد الجالية اليهودية في العراق لا يتجاوز ستة أشخاص، فإنهم يواصلون، بإصرار كبير، صون ذاكرة وتاريخ يمتدان لأكثر من 2500 عام.

كل التهاني للدكتورة إلياهو وفريقها على هذا العمل المميز وعلى جهودهم المتواصلة. كما نثمّن عالياً مساهمة الاتحاد السفاردي الأمريكي، شريكنا العزيز، باعتباره شريكاً أساسياً في هذا المشروع. ونتطلع إلى مبادرات ومشاريع جديدة ومثمرة مع الجماعة اليهودية العراقية في المستقبل.

Solange Serero, one of the gentle voices of the Jewish community of Fez. She knows the city like the back of her hand, its streets, its hidden corners, its people, and above all, its memories. She carries with her countless stories about the spiritual life of Fez, about its traditions, its Jewish and Muslim saints, and the beliefs and customs that have shaped the city for generations. Listening to Solange is like taking a journey through the Fez of yesterday, a city where Jewish and Muslim histories have been intertwined for centuries. She is one of those precious people who keep the soul and memory of Fez alive through their stories.

صولانج سيريرو، واحدة من الأصوات الهادئة والدافئة للطائفة اليهودية بمدينة فاس.
تعرف صولانج فاس كما تعرف راحة يدها، بأزقتها ودروبها، وأهلها، وقبل كل شيء بذاكرتها وحكاياتها. تحمل في جعبتها قصصاً لا تُحصى عن الحياة الروحية للمدينة، وعن تقاليدها وأوليائها الصالحين، من اليهود والمسلمين، وعن المعتقدات والعادات التي طبعت حياة أهل فاس عبر الأجيال.
الاستماع إلى صولانج أشبه برحلة إلى فاس الأمس، إلى مدينة تشابكت فيها الذاكرة اليهودية والإسلامية على مدى قرون. إنها واحدة من أولئك الأشخاص الأعزاء الذين يحفظون روح فاس وذاكرتها، وينقلون حكاياتها إلى الأجيال القادمة.

For many years, Raymond Azuelos has been one of the quiet pillars of Fez’s Jewish community. Through his dedication, patience and sense of responsibility, he has cared for the city’s synagogues and helped preserve the sacred places and memories connected to them.
With deep love for his community, Raymond has worked tirelessly to ensure that these synagogues remain cared for, respected and open to those who come to discover Fez’s Jewish heritage. Much of his work has taken place away from the spotlight, but its importance is felt by everyone who visits these historic places.
Raymond is a devoted, generous and deeply committed man who has given so much of himself to the Jewish community of Fez. He is serving also as a board member of the Jewish community of Fez.We are truly grateful for his years of service, his kindness and his unwavering dedication.
May God bless him with good health, happiness, peace and many more beautiful years among us. We love you, Raymond. עד מאה ועשרים שנה ❤️

على مدى سنوات طويلة، كان ريموند أزويلوس أحد الأعمدة الهادئة للجماعة اليهودية في فاس. وبفضل تفانيه وصبره وإحساسه الكبير بالمسؤولية، اعتنى بمعابد المدينة وساهم في الحفاظ على هذه الأماكن المقدسة والذكريات المرتبطة بها و يعمل الان كأحد أعضاء مكتب الجماعة اليهودية المغربية بفاس.
وبمحبة عميقة لجماعته، عمل ريموند بلا كلل حتى تظل هذه المعابد مصانة ومحترمة ومفتوحة أمام كل من يأتي لاكتشاف التراث اليهودي لمدينة فاس. وقد تم جزء كبير من عمله بعيداً عن الأضواء، لكن أثره يلمسه كل من يزور هذه الأماكن التاريخية.
ريموند رجل مخلص، كريم وملتزم، قدّم الكثير للجماعة اليهودية في فاس. ونحن ممتنون له بصدق على سنوات خدمته، وعلى طيبته وتفانيه الذي لم يتغير.
نسأل الله أن يرزقه الصحة والعافية والسعادة والطمأنينة، وأن يمنحه أعواماً جميلة كثيرة بيننا.

Whenever we speak about the Jewish community of Fez, we must also remember Ms. Simy Benizri, a graceful, elegant and soft-spoken woman whose kindness, wit and dedication have touched so many lives.
Behind her computer and in her office, often away from the spotlight, she has done, and continues to do, so much for the Jewish community of Fez. She preserves documents, responds to requests, keeps memories alive and quietly carries out the work that allows the community’s history and heritage to endure.
Simy is a gentle but powerful presence: thoughtful, generous, intelligent and deeply committed to her community. Much of what she does may not always be seen, but it is felt everywhere. We are incredibly fortunate to have her, to know her and to love her.
May God bless her with good health, happiness, peace and many more beautiful years among us. We love you, Simy. עד מאה ועשרים שנה ❤️

كلما تحدثنا عن الجماعة اليهودية في فاس، لا بد أن نتذكر السيدة سيمي بنعزري، تلك المرأة الأنيقة واللطيفة، الهادئة في حديثها، الذكية والمرحة، التي كرّست الكثير من وقتها وجهدها لخدمة يهود فاس.
من خلف حاسوبها وفي مكتبها، بعيداً عن الأضواء، تقوم سيمي بعمل كبير ومتواصل من أجل الحفاظ على ذاكرة المجتمع اليهودي في فاس وتراثه، ومتابعة شؤونه، والاهتمام بتفاصيل قد لا يراها الجميع، لكنها ضرورية لاستمرار هذه الذاكرة حية.
سيمي امرأة رقيقة، كريمة ومخلصة، تحمل حباً عميقاً لمجتمعها. نحن محظوظون بوجودها بيننا، وأكثر حظاً لأننا نعرفها ونحبها.

Whenever we speak about the Jewish community of Fez, one name always comes to mind: Mr. Makhlouf Raphaël Oliel. A man who carries the memory, history, and heritage of an entire community on his shoulders, with extraordinary dedication, humility, and love. He is more than a guardian of memory; he is a living part of that memory. Through him, the stories, traditions, and voices of generations of Jewish families from Fez continue to live on. We are incredibly fortunate to have him, and even more fortunate to know him and love him. May God bless him with good health, happiness, and many more years among us. עד מאה ועשרים שנה Ad 120 shana! ❤️

كلما ذُكرت الطائفة اليهودية بمدينة فاس، إلا وحضر اسم السيد مخلوف رافائيل أولييل، الرجل الذي يحمل على عاتقه ذاكرة طائفة بأكملها، بتاريخها وتراثها وتقاليدها، بكل تفانٍ وتواضع ومحبة.
فهو ليس مجرد حارس للذاكرة، بل هو جزء حيّ منها، وبفضله تظل حكايات أجيال من يهود فاس وذكرياتهم وتقاليدهم حاضرة بيننا، لا يطويها النسيان.
نحن محظوظون بوجود هذا الرجل بيننا، وأكثر حظاً بمعرفته ومحبته. نسأل الله أن يمدّ في عمره، وأن يمنّ عليه بموفور الصحة والعافية والسعادة، وأن يبقيه بيننا لسنوات طويلة.

Mimouna Association was honoured to participate in the third EPNA meeting in London, following the previous gatherings in Barcelona and Brussels.
Over three days, participants reflected on religion, violence, solidarity, antisemitism and the responsibility of plural societies, while exploring new forms of cooperation across communities and borders.
We are grateful to all the speakers, partners and participants who made this meeting possible.

تشرفت جمعية ميمونة بالمشاركة في الاجتماع الثالث للشبكة الأوروبية للعاملين في مجال مكافحة معاداة السامية في لندن، بعد اللقاءين السابقين في برشلونة وبروكسل.
وخلال ثلاثة أيام، ناقش المشاركون قضايا الدين والعنف، والتضامن، ومعاداة السامية، ومسؤولية المجتمعات المتعددة، إلى جانب سبل تعزيز التعاون بين مختلف المجتمعات وعبر الحدود.
كل الشكر للمتحدثين والشركاء والمشاركين الذين ساهموا في إنجاح هذا اللقاء.

From its synagogues and mellah to its traditions, memories and shared neighbourhoods, Jewish heritage remains an essential part of Fez’s story. Preserving this history means remembering the many communities that helped build Morocco.
We are proud to share this video and to continue contributing to the preservation of Morocco’s rich Jewish heritage.

رحلة جميلة ومؤثرة عبر تاريخ الوجود اليهودي في فاس، ذلك الوجود الذي شكّل جزءاً مهماً من تاريخ المدينة وثقافتها وهويتها على مدى قرون.
من المعابد والملاح إلى العادات والذكريات والأحياء المشتركة، يظل التراث اليهودي جزءاً أصيلاً من حكاية فاس. فالحفاظ على هذا التراث هو حفاظ على ذاكرة مدينة غنية بتعدد مكوناتها وتاريخها المشترك.
