🌍 FROM LEARNING TO ACTION: COMMUNITY SOCIAL HACKATHONS ACROSS HACKTIVE YOUTH!

What happens when young people are given the space, tools and trust to tackle the challenges that matter to their communities?

💡 Ideas become solutions. Participation becomes action. And young people become changemakers.

As a key part of the HACKTIVE YOUTH local implementation process, each project partner will organise a Community Social Hackathon in its own local context, applying and adapting the methodology to the realities, needs and challenges of its community.

The Community Social Hackathon represents a crucial step in the HACKTIVE YOUTH journey. It is where young people can put active citizenship into practice by working together on real local challenges and developing creative, collaborative and sustainable solutions.

🤝 Why does it matter?

Because young people are not simply invited to participate. They are encouraged to identify challenges, make decisions, co-create solutions and take an active role in shaping their communities.

Each partner.
Each community.
Different challenges and different ideas.
One shared methodology and one common goal: empowering young people to become active protagonists of positive change. 🚀

Over the coming period, the HACKTIVE YOUTH partners will bring their Community Social Hackathons to life at local level, each following its own implementation process.

📸 Stay tuned as we share their experiences, ideas and youth-led solutions!

🌍 HACKTIVE YOUTH: LOCAL IMPLEMENTATION IN ACTION!

The local implementation phase of HACKTIVE YOUTH is bringing the project methodology directly into communities across the partner countries! 🚀

At the heart of this phase are the Youth Workers previously trained in the HACKTIVE YOUTH methodology, who are now putting their competences into practice by facilitating the methodology with young people in their local contexts.

The local implementation combines two interconnected components: Local Workshops and Community Social Hackathons, creating a progressive journey from learning and community exploration to youth-led ideas and action.

🧩 Through the Local Workshops, young people engage with the first three steps of the HACKTIVE YOUTH methodology:

🟠 Youth Education on Citizenship & Rights
🟢 Context Analysis & Community Mapping
🔵 Identification of Social Challenges

Using non-formal, participatory and experiential approaches, the trained Youth Workers facilitate activities adapted to the realities, needs and characteristics of each local context. This flexibility is an essential feature of the HACKTIVE YOUTH methodology, allowing its tools and activities to respond to different cultural and social environments while maintaining a shared methodological framework.

👥 Throughout this process, young people are encouraged to explore their rights and responsibilities, understand their communities, identify local needs and challenges, exchange perspectives and define the issues that matter most to them.

These first steps prepare the ground for the next key component of the local implementation: the Community Social Hackathons. 💡

During the Community Social Hackathons , young people move from understanding and identifying community challenges to collaboratively developing ideas and solutions that respond to real local needs. In the HACKTIVE YOUTH approach, Social Hackathons become civic laboratories where participation, creativity and social innovation come together.

Most importantly, young people are not simply recipients of the process. HACKTIVE YOUTH places them at its centre as co-creators, decision-makers and changemakers, while Youth Workers facilitate, accompany and create the conditions for meaningful youth-led participation.

From active citizenship to understanding the community.
From local challenges to collaborative solutions.
From learning to action.

🌍 This is HACKTIVE YOUTH Local Implementation.

📸 Stay tuned as we share experiences, ideas and moments from the Local Workshops and Community Social Hackathons taking place across the HACKTIVE YOUTH partner countries!

🚀 HACKTIVE YOUTH enters its final phase!
After months of collaboration, learning, and preparation, the HACKTIVE YOUTH project is now actively delivering its impact on the ground. 🌍✨
Across partner countries, we are currently organizing and implementing local workshops and Community Social Hackathons, engaging young people and communities in shaping solutions for real societal challenges.

👥 These activities are:
✅ Bringing together youth workers, young people, and local stakeholders
✅ Promoting active citizenship and civic engagement
✅ Supporting participants—especially those with fewer opportunities—to turn ideas into action
✅ Creating innovative, community-driven solutions through collaboration

💡 The journey continues towards our final milestones, including the upcoming International Social Hackathon, where ideas and impact will come together on a global level.

Stay tuned as we share stories, results, and impact from the field!

Last week we had our 4th Webinar! 🎉

Together with our youth workers, we explored how social hackathons can become powerful spaces for young people to develop essential soft skills.

We reflected on which soft skills can be strengthened through these experiences from teamwork and communication to creativity, critical thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving and how we, as youth workers, can intentionally support this development.

Through the Hacktive Methodology, we are diving deeper into what truly lies behind a social hackathon, exploring it at 360°:
✨ the learning process
✨ the group dynamics
✨ the facilitation strategies
✨ and the real impact on young people’s personal and professional growth

We still have a lot of work to do, so stay tuned 😎
