La Fondation Montresso* prend une pause estivale ☀️🌊

📅 Du 23 juillet au 23 août 2026, la Fondation fermera ses portes.

Nous souhaitons profiter de ce moment pour adresser nos plus sincères remerciements à toutes celles et ceux qui font vivre ce territoire de création : les artistes, les équipes, les partenaires et notre fidèle public, toujours présent au rendez-vous.

Cette année encore, la Fondation Montresso* a été le lieu d’un écosystème vivant, fait de rencontres, de recherches et de transmissions. Depuis plus de 15 ans, elle construit un territoire où chaque saison culturelle fait émerger de nouvelles voix, où les artistes déplacent les regards et nous invitent à repenser nos manières d’habiter le monde.

La saison 2026-2027 poursuivra cette démarche en donnant une nouvelle fois toute sa place aux artistes et à la puissance transformatrice de la création.

Rendez-vous à la rentrée pour une nouvelle saison de découvertes, de dialogues et de créations.

📅 From 23 July to 23 August 2026, the Foundation will be closed to the public.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our warmest thanks to all those who contribute to the vitality of this creative territory: the artists, our teams, our partners, and our loyal audience, whose continued support and presence mean so much.

Once again this year, Montresso* Art Foundation has been a thriving ecosystem shaped by encounters, research, and knowledge-sharing. For more than 15 years, it has been cultivating a space where each cultural season brings new voices to the fore, where artists challenge perspectives and invite us to reconsider the ways in which we inhabit the world.

The 2026–2027 season will continue this commitment, once again placing artists and the transformative power of creation at the heart of our programme.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the new season for a programme of discoveries, dialogues, and creative encounters.

📅📣 Résultats de l'appel à candidatures – Résidence Jardin Rouge 2026-2027

La Fondation Montresso* a le plaisir d'annoncer la sélection des huit artistes qui intégreront la Résidence Jardin Rouge pour l'édition 2026-2027.

Cette édition rassemble des artistes originaires d'Afrique du Sud, du Cameroun, d'Éthiopie, de France, d'Iran, de l'Île Maurice, du Maroc et de Suisse.

Au cours de leur résidence, ils et elles développeront un projet de recherche et de création en dialogue avec les territoires.

La Fondation Montresso* remercie chaleureusement l'ensemble des artistes ayant participé à cet appel à candidatures pour la richesse et la diversité des propositions reçues.

Elle adresse toutes ses félicitations aux artistes sélectionné·e·s et se réjouit d'accompagner leurs recherches et leurs démarches artistiques au cours de ce prochain cycle.

📅📣 Results of the Call for Applications – Jardin Rouge Residency 2026–2027

Montresso* Art Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of the eight artists who will join the Jardin Rouge Residency for the 2026–2027 edition.

This edition brings together artists from South Africa, Cameroon, Ethiopia, France, Iran, Mauritius, Morocco, and Switzerland.

During their residency, they will develop a research and creative project in dialogue with the territories.

Montresso* Art Foundation warmly thanks all the artists who took part in this call for applications for the richness and diversity of the proposals submitted.

It extends its congratulations to the selected artists and looks forward to supporting their research and artistic practices throughout this upcoming cycle.

Influencée par la pensée de Carl Gustav Jung et la notion de conscience collective, Natalia Manta crée des œuvres qui interrogent les réalités multiples de notre existence. L’utilisation de matériaux variés, empruntés à différentes disciplines artistiques, lui permet de tisser les liens invisibles qui unissent les civilisations.Portail matériel vers des mondes parallèles, l’artiste interroge sans cesse les relations entre l’homme, son environnement et son passé, invitant le spectateur à traverser les seuils du temps, de la mémoire et de l’imaginaire, à la recherche d’un monde toujours à réinventer.

Influenced by the thought of Carl Gustav Jung and the notion of collective consciousness, Natalia Manta creates works that question the multiple realities of our existence. Using materials drawn from various artistic disciplines, she weaves the invisible links that unite civilizations. A material portal to parallel worlds, the artist continuously questions the relationships between humanity, its environment, and its past, inviting the viewer to cross the thresholds of time, memory, and imagination in search of a world constantly awaiting reinvention.

Au cœur d’une oliveraie, le jardin de sculptures de la Fondation Montresso* invite à déambuler en pleine nature, dans un espace où l’art dialogue avec le paysage. Loin du rythme urbain, les œuvres prennent place au sein des jardins et de l’architecture, offrant un parcours où l’on chemine au gré des formes, des matières et des imaginaires.

La promenade se dessine entre les feuillages, les pierres et les œuvres, ouvrant la voie aux rêveries, aux associations libres et aux histoires qui se composent au fil de la traversée.

At the heart of an olive grove, Montresso Art Foundation sculpture garden invites visitors to wander through nature, in a space where art enters into dialogue with the landscape. Far from the pace of urban life, the artworks take their place within the gardens and architecture, offering a journey through forms, materials and imagined worlds.

The walk unfolds among foliage, stones and artworks, opening the way to reverie, free associations and stories that emerge throughout the experience.

EVENTS*

Dans le secret de son atelier à Jardin Rouge, Celia Bougdal reprend ces gestes de couture, mais dans un langage visuel nouveau. Le tissu cède la place aux papiers photographiques, le textile caresse l’image. Le passage du numérique à l’argentique et aux procédés expérimentaux engage un déplacement du travail vers la matière et vers le partage. L’œuvre se construit dans cette circulation, soutenue par l’atelier, les artistes de la scène locale et une direction artistique attentive. Ainsi se transmet et se prolonge le geste : maintenir, relier, assembler, d’une main à l’autre, d’un atelier à l’autre, pour qu’advienne collectivement le deuil, comblant parfois la confusion du passé et les promesses de l’avenir. Ce travail ne relève ni de l’archive ni d’un art sépulcral. L’exposition s’adresse au ciel dans une correspondance multilingue.

In the privacy of her studio at Jardin Rouge, Celia Bougdal revisits these sewing techniques, but within a new visual language. Fabric gives way to photographic paper; the textile caresses the image. The transition from digital to film and experimental processes marks a shift in her work toward materiality and sharing.
The work takes shape through this exchange, fostered by the studio, local artists, and an attentive artistic director. In this way, the process is passed on and sustained: maintaining, connecting and assembling, from one hand to another, from one studio to another, so that collective mourning may take hold, sometimes bridging the confusion of the past and the promises of the future.

Quelques images d’une soirée autour de l’artiste Hasnae El Ouarga et de son exposition Rémanence, à l’espace d’art Artorium.

L’art n’existe pleinement qu’à travers les regards qu’il suscite. C’est cette conviction qui a réuni la Fondation Montresso* et la Fondation TGCC autour d’un même engagement en faveur de la création contemporaine, dont cette soirée fut une belle illustration.

ARTISTS*

Nous avons le plaisir d'accueillir Chada dans le cadre d'une résidence croisée menée en collaboration avec la Galerie Farah Fakhri.

Né en 1998 à Abidjan, Charles-David Gnangoran, alias Chada, développe une pratique où peinture, céramique et textile dialoguent dans des compositions hybrides. Son travail explore les notions d'identité, de mémoire et de transmission à travers une approche profondément ancrée dans la matière.

Durant cette résidence, l'artiste crée depuis le territoire de Marrakech. Les paysages, la lumière et les tonalités de la ville nourrissent sa recherche et viennent influencer la colorimétrie de ses œuvres, ouvrant un nouveau dialogue entre son vocabulaire plastique et ce contexte singulier.

Cette résidence croisée poursuit notre volonté de favoriser les échanges entre artistes, territoires et pratiques, en créant des espaces de recherche, de rencontre et de création.

We are delighted to welcome Chada as part of a cross-residency program in collaboration with Galerie Farah Fakhri.

Born in Abidjan in 1998, Charles-David Gnangoran, known as Chada, develops a multidisciplinary practice where painting, ceramics, and textiles come together in hybrid compositions. Deeply rooted in material exploration, his work examines questions of identity, memory, and transmission.

During this residency, the artist is creating from the territory of Marrakech. The city's landscapes, light, and distinctive palette inform his research, influencing the chromatic language of his work and opening a new dialogue between his visual vocabulary and this unique environment.

This cross-residency reflects our shared commitment to fostering exchanges between artists, places, and practices by creating spaces for research, encounter, and artistic experimentation.

IN-Discipline – Brésil, Diáspora do tambor est un ouvrage consacré à l’exposition éponyme présentée dans le cadre du programme de la Fondation Montresso.

Ce livre explore la richesse des héritages africains au Brésil à travers la figure centrale du tambour, affirmant la continuité des cultures diasporiques entre continents et générations.

Présenté à Marrakech lors de la 1-54 Art Fair, le programme bénéficie du soutien de partenaires engagés, dont la Fondation Audi, qui accompagne cette initiative depuis 2024 et soutient également la publication de cet ouvrage.

IN-Discipline – Brazil, Diáspora do tambor is a publication dedicated to the eponymous exhibition presented as part of the iN-Discipline programme initiated by the Montresso Art Foundation.

This book explores the richness of African heritage in Brazil through the central figure of the drum, affirming the continuity of diasporic cultures across continents and generations.

Presented in Marrakech during the 1-54 Art Fair, the programme is supported by committed partners, including the Audi Foundation, which has been accompanying this initiative since 2024 and also supports the publication of this book.

La mer blanche du milieu — Ilel Agr Akkal

Le festival Off Avignon célèbre ses 60 ans et place la Méditerranée au centre, dans le cadre du projet Lumière, la Méditerranée invitée d’honneur.

Dans ce cadre, l’École supérieure d’art d’Avignon (ESAA), le festival Off Avignon et la Fondation Montresso*, avec le soutien de la Ville d’Avignon, portent La mer blanche du milieu, un projet associant pratiques artistiques, transmission et réflexion curatoriale.

Le projet implique des étudiant·e·s formé·e·s aux enjeux de scénographie et de conception d’exposition à l’ESAA et à la Fondation Montresso*, aux côtés de l’artiste Mouna Saboni, avant de se déployer à la Chapelle Saint-Michel durant le festival à travers l’exposition éponyme La mer blanche du milieu.

Depuis les rives du Sud, Asma Ben Aïssa et Mouna Saboni composent un paysage entre textile, photographie et gravure, évoquant une Méditerranée vivante, traversée d’histoires et d’imaginaires partagés.

The festival Off Avignon celebrates its 60th anniversary and places the Mediterranean at the centre as part of the Lumière project, the Mediterranean is this edition's guest of honour.

Within this framework, the École supérieure d’art d’Avignon (ESAA), the festival Off Avignon, and Montresso* Art Foundation, with the support of the City of Avignon, present La mer blanche du milieu, a project combining artistic practice, transmission, and curatorial reflection.

The project involves students trained in scenography and exhibition-making at ESAA and Montresso* Art Foundation, working alongside artist Mouna Saboni, before unfolding at the Chapelle Saint-Michel during the festival through the exhibition La mer blanche du milieu.

From the southern shores of the Mediterranean, Asma Ben Aïssa and Mouna Saboni construct a landscape between textile, photography, and engraving, evoking a living Mediterranean shaped by shared histories and imaginaries.

Hélène Amouzou, Mohamed Arrhioui, María García Ibáñez et Maya Ines Touam sondent le corps dans sa figure mémorielle. Il est le dépositaire d’une souvenance où se consignent les traces d’histoires personnelles et les héritages invisibles. Les œuvres d’Ignacio Lóbera, Golnaz Payani, Pedro Pires et Mônica Ventura explorent cette capacité du corps à produire du récit, à inventer des formes de langage. Quant à Carla Busuttil, Wahib Chehata, Fahamu Pecou et Dominique Zinkpè ouvrent une réflexion où le corps s’inscrit dans le monde, interroge aussi sa place dans des systèmes plus vastes.

Par-delà les différentes approches, le corps est mouvement, offrant au regardeur une constellation de regards… Il contient autant de manières de percevoir l’expérience humaine que de tisser les relations entre histoire, identité et imaginaire.

From May 2 to July 18, 2026 – Montresso* Art Space
Hélène Amouzou, Mohamed Arrhioui, María García Ibáñez, and Maya Ines Touam examine the body as a site of memory. It becomes a repository of remembrance, holding traces of personal histories and invisible inheritances. The works of Ignacio Lóbera, Golnaz Payani, Pedro Pires, and Mônica Ventura explore the body’s capacity to produce narrative and to invent forms of language. As for Carla Busuttil, Wahib Chehata, Fahamu Pecou, and Dominique Zinkpè, they open up a reflection in which the body is inscribed in the world and also questions its place within broader systems.

Across these diverse approaches, the body is movement—a shifting constellation of perspectives offered to the viewer. It holds as many ways of experiencing the human condition as it does of weaving connections between history, identity, and imagination.
