We are excited to invite you to the first pilot session of Patient Engagement Open Forum + (PEOF+) Africa, a regional platform dedicated to strengthening patient engagement across African health systems.
In this session, we will:
- Explore the current landscape of patient engagement in Africa
- Highlight emerging models and how patient organizations influence policy and service improvement
- Collaborate on defining what Patient Engagement means for Africa.
This session will bring together regional patient leaders and partners, focusing on the importance of patient engagement in creating stronger, more accountable health systems across the continent.

تم إنتاج هذا الفيديو للاحتفال بالذكرى الخامسة عشرة لتأسيس جمعية أمل لمرضى اللوكيميا، ولتسليط الضوء على إنجازات خمسة عشر عامًا من إشراك المرضى، والصمود، والمثابرة، والشغف، والصبر، والتأثير المجتمعي.

على مدى 15 سنة، قدمت جمعية أمل لمرضى اللوكيميا خدمات أساسية مجانية للمرضى وعائلاتهم: الدعم، والتوجيه، والتثقيف، والإيواء، والنقل، والتحاليل الطبية، وتوفير الأدوية (عند الإمكان)، بالإضافة إلى التوعية والوقاية، وحضور إنساني في أصعب اللحظات.

تحتفل جمعية أمل لمرضى اللوكيميا بالذكرى الخامسة عشرة لتأسيسها.
اليوم، نحتفل بـ 15 سنة من الشجاعة، والالتزام، والإنسانية.
جمعية أمل لمرضى اللوكيميا هي جمعية أُسِّست من قِبل المرضى، ومع المرضى، ومن أجل المرضى.
هي قصة وُلدت من المعاناة، وتحولت إلى قوة جماعية.
هي كذلك ذكرى إصابتي بالسرطان، قصة شخصية امتدت لأكثر من 24 سنة، مؤمنة بأن كل مريض يستحق أن يُواكَب، ويُستمع إليه، ويُحترم، لأن لا أحد يستحق أن يواجه المرض أو السرطان وحيدًا.
على مدى خمسة عشر عامًا، بدأنا بإمكانيات بسيطة، لكن بإرادة لا حدود لها. خطوة بخطوة، بنينا مشاريع ساهمت في تغيير حياة العديد، تتمحور كلها حول أولوياتنا الأساسية: المواكبة، والدعم، والتكوين، والتثقيف، والتوعية، والوقاية، والمناصرة لتحسين ظروف علاج مرضى السرطان في المغرب.
جمعية أمل لمرضى اللوكيميا ليست مجرد جمعية: إنها مجموعة، وأسرة، وحركة، وصوت قوي يدافع عن مرضى اللوكيميا وأمراض الدم في المغرب.
اليوم، نفكر في جميع المرضى، في عائلاتهم، في أولئك الذين رحلوا، فيمن لا يزالون يقاومون، في حديثي التشخيص، وفيمن استعادوا الأمل بفضل هذه السلسلة من التضامن.
ونفكر أيضًا في جميع شركائنا، الذين دعمونا، وآمنوا بمشاريعنا، وأصغوا إلينا، واحترمونا، ورافقونا في كل خطوة.
بفضلهم، استطاعت جمعية أمل لمرضى اللوكيميا أن تكبر، وأن تتطور، وأن تُنجز مشاريع طموحة، وأن تواصل رفع صوت المرضى عاليًا في المغرب.
شكرًا لكل من آمن بهذه الرسالة. ما بنيناه معًا عظيم جداً، ولا المستقبل زال يحمل المزيد.
L’Association des Malades Atteints de Leucémies AMAL célèbre son 15ème anniversaire.
Nous célébrons 15 ans de courage, d’engagement et d’humanité.
L’association AMAL, c’est une association fondée par des patients, avec les patients et pour les patients. C’est une histoire née de l’épreuve, transformée en une force collective.
C’est aussi mon cancerversaire, mon histoire personnelle, un combat de plus de 24 ans, porté par la conviction que chaque patient mérite d’être accompagné, écouté et respecté car nul ne mérite d’être seul face à la maladie, face au cancer.
Durant ces quinze années, nous avons commencé avec des moyens très modestes, mais avec une détermination immense. Pas à pas, nous avons construit des projets qui ont changé des vies, tous centrés autour de priorités essentielles : l’accompagnement, le soutien, la formation, l’éducation, la sensibilisation, la prévention et le plaidoyer afin d’améliorer les conditions de soins des patients atteints de cancer au Maroc.
AMAL, ce n’est pas seulement une association : C’est une communauté. C’est une famille. C’est un mouvement. C’est une voix forte qui porte et défend les patients atteints de leucémie et de maladies du sang au Maroc.
Aujourd’hui, nous pensons à tous ces patients, à leurs familles, à ceux qui ne sont plus parmi nous, à ceux qui luttent encore, à ceux nouvellement diagnostiqués, à ceux qui ont retrouvé espoir grâce à cette chaîne de solidarité.
Et nous pensons aussi à tous nos partenaires, ceux qui nous ont soutenus, qui ont cru en nos projets, qui nous ont écoutés, qui nous ont respectés et qui nous ont accompagnés tout au long de ce chemin.
Grâce à eux, AMAL a pu grandir, se structurer, réaliser des projets ambitieux et continuer à porter haut la voix des patients au Maroc.
Merci à toutes celles et ceux qui ont cru en cette mission. Ce que nous avons construit ensemble est immense. Et ce n’est que le début.

It all started with an informal conversation in the garden of a hotel in Baveno, Italy, during the (Patient Engagement Open Forum) organized by PFMD.

In that inspiring setting, a small group of us came together, united by one shared conviction: Africa deserves more than a seat at the table, it deserves a leading role.

We envisioned an where patients are not merely consulted, but actively shaping solutions. An Africa where lived experiences meaningfully guide decisions, influence policies, and strengthen healthcare systems.

From that first conversation emerged a collective purpose: to build a dynamic, inclusive, and impactful patient engagement movement across the continent.

A new educational resource developed by the CLL Advocates Network: “Navigating Immune Challenges in CLL: Infection, Prevention and Management.”

People living with are at higher risk of infections due to immune system compromise caused by both the disease and its treatments. Preventing infections and responding early when they occur, is therefore a critical part of care.

I am grateful to have contributed to this initiative as part of the CLL Immune Challenges (IC) Task Force, which created this resource to help patients and caregivers better understand infection risks and practical prevention strategies, supporting informed decision-making.

Improving awareness and access to clear information helps patients navigate their journey and adapt to their “new normal.”
