Today is World AIDS Day!
World AIDS Day, observed annually on 1 December since its establishment in 1988, remains one of the most important global health observances. It is a moment to honour lives lost, stand with people living with HIV, celebrate scientific progress, and renew global commitment to ending the epidemic. This year’s theme, “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” urges the world to confront the impact of pandemics, conflict, misinformation, and widening inequalities on HIV prevention and care.
This is the momentum YALDA is committed to strengthening. As a pan-African, youth-led organisation, YALDA recognizes the role of young Africans in building a resilient, stigma-free HIV response. We continue to equip young leaders with accurate information, digital literacy, advocacy skills, and platforms to challenge harmful myths and expand access to prevention and care. Let us honour the millions impacted by choosing action over complacency—by investing in prevention, protecting human rights, eliminating stigma, and ensuring equitable access to services for all.
