Cooperative Moughyay

Cooperative Moughyay Nationally famous for and traditional and unquestioned quality, the Bzouia fabric is painstakingly hand-woven on wooden looms from local wool and silk threads.

Traditionally woven for use in men’s garments, it is the fabric specifically chosen by the King of Morocco for his family’s personal Jellabas. From the Moughyay neighborhood of Bzou, this cooperative has adapted the medium into scarves and shawls, forming new patterns and even using natural dying techniques to give the classic fashion a modern look. Also available are full sheets of the fabric, each representing over a month of manual labor.
