نظراً لما تمر به ليبيا من مراحل بناء وتطوير، اجتمعت مجموعة من المهندسين في مجال الهندسة الكهربائية والإلكترونية، لمناقشة سبل المساهمة في المرحلة الحالية.
وتمت مناقشة مخلفات الحرب على المجتمع الليبي. فاجتمع الرأي على أن من أهم المشاكل المؤثرة على فئة كبيرة من المواطنين هي حالات البتر، خصوصاً أنها لا تؤثر على المصابين فحسب، بل أيضا على أسرهم والمجتمع ككل. حيث يعاني الكثير من المواطنين من مشاكل ا
لبتر، إما بسبب إصابة عمل على سبيل المثال، أو ﻷسباب مرضية أو غيره. كما ازدادت الحاجة إلى الاهتمام بموضوع الأطراف الصناعية بعد ثورة 17 فبراير، وذلك للعدد الكبير من المصابين في هذه الثورة.
ومن خلال دراسة هذا الموضوع، تتوفر إمكانية نقل تقنية الأطراف الصناعية الإلكترونية إلى ليبيا، فتستطيع شريحة كبيرة من الوصول إلى هذه التقنية بسهولة ومنها الاندماج في المجتمع وتأدية الوظائف بشكل طبيعي. فتكون التأثيرات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية إيجابية على المجتمع.
بالتالي، تحت شعار "من أجل حياة أفضل"، تأسست المجموعة البحثية التي تسمى " الفريق الهندسي للأطراف الصناعية اﻹلكترونية" لغرض الاهتمام بموضوع اﻷطراف الصناعية من خلال دراسة علمية على اﻷطراف الصناعية اﻹلكترونية، وكذلك المساهمة في تنفيذ هذا المشروع في ليبيا لما فيه من أهمية في المرحلة الحالية خاصة وعلى المدى البعيد عامة، حيث أن التركيز سيكون على اﻷطراف العلوية. وقد اعتمدت وزارة الثقافة والمجتمع المدني هذا الفريق وتم تسجيله كمؤسسة بحثية علمية.
ويسعى هذا الفريق إلى تصميم وتصنيع أطراف علوية صناعية إلكترونية سهلة الاستخدام، تمكن المصاب من تأدية الوظائف الأساسية التي تجعل منه عضوا فعالاً في المجتمع.

A group of engineers in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has met to discuss how they can contribute to the current development stage in Libya. The remnants of the war and its negative effects on the Libyan society were discussed. The group has agreed that one of the most important problems affecting a large number of citizens is the issue of amputation. That is because many people in the community are suffering from limb amputation, either as a result of an accident at work, for example, or because of health problems or others. revolution in Libya, the need to provide developed prosthesis in Libya has increased since the war has caused a large number of amputees. Therefore, it is important to provide the technology of electronic prosthesis since it can play a major role in helping amputees to normally perform their life activities. Hence, a centre or a unite for electronic prosthesis with the facilities of manufacturing, development and maintenance in Libya, can offer those patients a significant support so they can normally involve and act in the community. Thus, under the slogan "For a better life," a research group called “ Electronic Prosthesis Engineering Team” was established in order to focus on the subject of “Upper Limbs Electronic Prosthesis” and start a research project about this topic and to help to bring the technology of Electronic Prosthesis to Libya. The "Electronic Prosthesis Engineering Team " is now registered as an organization in the Ministry of Culture and Civil Society / The National Transitional Council of Libya. This group seeks to design and manufacture electronic limbs which is user-friendly and enables the amputee to perform basic functions that make him an active member of the community, and cause a positive social and economic impacts on the society.
