šŸ“¢ WIN-WIN Project Update: Productive Second Meeting in Bari!
We're thrilled to report on a highly successful second transnational meeting for the WIN-WIN project, held on Saturday, November 28th, 2025, in Bari, Italy!
Our international consortium gathered to review the significant progress made, especially on Work Package 3 (Development of Study Course, Guidelines, and Handbook). We delved into:
• The Evaluation Framework šŸ“Š
• The development of our Open Online Course šŸ§‘ā€šŸ’»
• Practical video tutorials for students šŸŽ„
• Guidelines for implementing the study course šŸ“–
• A comprehensive Handbook for universities on using dual careers as a promotional tool šŸŽ“
• Progress on our Policy Recommendation for a special pensions scheme for professional athletes šŸ“œ
Looking ahead, we had an in-depth overview and brainstorming session for Work Package 4 (Pilot Study and Evaluation). Further we discussed the next steps to pilot these innovative resources with student-athletes.

šŸ“¢ Exciting News: WIN-WIN Project Officially Kicks Off in Riga!
We're thrilled to announce that the first project kick-off meeting for "Winning in life, winning in sport" (WIN-WIN) has successfully concluded in beautiful Riga, Latvia!

Over meeting, partners from Latvia (Andara plus), Poland, Malta, Greece, Italy and Sweden gathered to launch this ambitious EU-funded initiative. Our core mission is to create a comprehensive framework and resources to support student-athletes in successfully combining their sports careers with higher education.

We had inspiring discussions, planned key activities, and forged strong collaborations. We're incredibly excited to embark on this 24-month journey, aiming to empower young athletes across Europe and contribute to a legacy of inclusion and improved outcomes in both sport and academia.

Athletes are tough, physically and mentally; the best employees, like athletes, need to be able to operate at a high level, consistently and for long periods of time. Further, like successful athletes, successful employees need to be able to learn from their mistakes and move on.
That’s why we invite universities to actively support student-athletes by implementing the courseā€œ21st Century Skills Gained Through Sports Training and Competitionsā€ because it actively supports dual career athletes -students in their daily activities!

Second specific objective is development of Guidelines on how to implement this study course in the University
Guidelines will include such an information as:
- information on the financial resources required for the implementation of the study programme;
- Description and assessment of the teaching staff involved in the implementation of the study programme;
- Information about the structural units and necessary ancillary staff involved in the
implementation of the study programme;
- Description and assessment of the infrastructure and material and technical provision;
- Informational support about digital tools and approaches for remote teaching;
- Methodological support (guidelines, methodologies, etc.)
These practical guidelines will help Higher Education Institutions integrate the course smoothly, ensuring that student-athletes get the support they need to grow both academically and personally

The first specific goal of the WIN-WIN project is to develop a comprehensive evaluation framework to identify and assess the skills gained through sports training and competitions
But that’s not all! We're also creating an open online course titled:
"21st Century Skills Gained Through Sports Training and Competitions" —
a unique learning experience that integrates:
- Soft skills development
-Basic principles of healthy nutrition
-Practical tips for managing a dual career
This course is designed to be implemented as a Part C elective in Higher Education Institutions, giving students the chance to turn their sports experience into real academic and personal growth.

Summer time is very productive, we are working on modules development!
In these months we are collecting data on developed soft skills through sport, basic principles of healthy nutrition combined with sports and other tips for dual career.
Will be conducted interviews with experts from universities in order to find out about existing soft skills courses. All partners’ countries are involved: Latvia, Malta, Italy, Poland, Greece and Sweden!
We aim to empower young people to succeed both in sport and in life. This research is a key step toward creating more effective programs that support athletes in developing communication, leadership, time management, and other essential skills—while also promoting health and academic success.
Together, we are building a stronger foundation for the future of dual career athletes across Europe!
