DCCL Regional Dinner in Liepāja
The Danish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia has launched a new series of regional casual dinners to strengthen connections, welcome new professionals, and create a relaxed setting for evening networking. Our first gathering took place in Liepāja 21.aug, bringing together members and invited guests for an engaging start to this new initiative. Anders Hansen opened the evening with a warm welcome, and Anton Thorup shared insights into the local business landscape in Liepāja. The atmosphere reflected the Danish concept of hygge — warm, inviting, and centered around good conversation.
We look forward to continuing these regional dinners across Latvia and meeting even more of our community along the way.

Latvia has appointed Mr. Ivars Lasis as the new Ambassador to Denmark, and we were pleased to meet him at a presentation session arranged with the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia. Chairman Jakob Hauptmann and Administrator Anton Thorup introduced DCCL’s work, achievements, and upcoming initiatives.
The meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took place in a warm, informative, and forward looking atmosphere. Mr. Lasis shared insights from his professional background and outlined his expectations for the role in Denmark, while Jakob Hauptmann presented DCCL’s experience and plans for strengthening cooperation.
The discussion concluded with a clear mutual intention to build a strong and productive partnership.
DCCL congratulates Mr. Ivars Lasis on his appointment and wishes him every success in his new role.

Connected Routes — and Why They Matter for Latvia’s Future
Leaders from government, logistics, aviation, rail and port sectors came together to discuss how better connectivity can boost Latvia’s business environment. The message was clear: strong connections drive growth — from attracting investment to supporting exports and improving mobility.
Participants also stressed that Latvia’s competitiveness will depend on creating one shared vision for transport, logistics, mobility and trade, especially as the country navigates demographic, economic and security challenges.
Several speakers pointed out that Latvia already has many development plans — now it’s time to focus on coordination and implementation.
We were delighted to welcome 50 participants from business, transport, logistics, infrastructure and the public sector.
The event was organised by the Danish, Irish-Latvian, British, Finnish and Swiss Chambers of Commerce in Latvia, with support from DHL Express Latvia.

Celebrating Danish Constitution Day in Jūrmala.
The Embassy of Denmark in Latvia and the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia were delighted to host a garden reception at the Ambassador’s Residence to mark Danish Constitution Day.
The evening brought together the Danish and Latvian business communities, institutional partners, friends of Denmark, and a visiting business delegation.

Ambassador Morten Jespersen opened the event with reflections on the importance of the day and the democratic values at the heart of the Danish Constitution. Jakob Hauptmann, Chairman of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia, welcomed guests and introduced the programme.

We were honoured to hear remarks from Major General Ulrich Essemann Beck, Commander of Multinational Division North; Nina Hvid Enevoldsen, Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia; and Søren Vincents Svendsen, Director of PH Pianos, who presented the iconic PH Grand Piano — a Danish design with craftsmanship links to Latvia.

A clear theme throughout the evening was the importance of freedom, democracy, and close cooperation — values that matter more than ever in today’s European security environment.

The Danish Chamber of Commerce recently enjoyed a successful trip to Latgale, combining business insights with cultural experiences.
We visited several impressive companies, each offering presentations and guided tours:
-VTI Avoti in Rēzekne – a factory specializing in glued laminated timber panels made from pine and spruce.
-VS Teks in Preiļi – a knitwear manufacturer producing high-quality garments.
-Specialplast in Daugavpils – a versatile plastics company producing a wide range of plastic components.
We extend our sincere thanks to our hosts for their warm welcome and dedication.
The cultural part of the trip included memorable visits to:
-Šmakovka Museum – featuring a guided tour and tastings of traditional Latgale schnapps.
-Rotko Museum – an inspiring venue showcasing works by Mark Rothko and other notable artists.
-Automobile Museum – displaying vehicles from the Soviet era to the present day.
In the evenings, we enjoyed cozy and delicious dinners accompanied by warm, friendly networking.

The Danish Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2024 Annual Meeting at the Danish Embassy in Riga.
During the meeting, DCC Chairman Jens Thorup provided insights into the political climate and reviewed the association’s activities throughout the year. The Danish Ambassador Morten Jespersen also shared valuable perspectives on the situation in the Baltics.
Special thanks go to the Embassy for graciously hosting the gathering.
The post-meeting networking paired with a lovely dinner at the Grand Palace Hotel strengthened bonds and fostered meaningful connections.

Members of the board of Danish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia participated in Foreign Investors’ Council in Latvia, FICIL’s 25 years anniversary.
The event was a tribute to the organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering a better investment and business environment in Latvia.
It was a grand celebration, bringing together government representatives, ambassadors, partners, and FICIL members.
From the Danish Chambers board participated Kalvis Vanags, Roberts Moncinskis and Anton Thorup, here together with FICIL’s Director Tatjana Guznajeva and board member Reinhold Schneider.

The Kurzeme regional branch of Latvia's largest business association "Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry" (LTRK) organized a competition in which the best Liepaja companies in different categories, in the catagory "A company with significant social impact". was 3 companies in the final nomination. of these was 2 DCC members: AE Partner and RT Metals, AE Partner was the winner of this prize!! RT Metals got the “Sympathy prize” from Altum for a long and successful cooperation on various projects, LSEZ said thank you to AE Partner and RT Metals for being active in investments and for continuous development in Liepája’s Special Economic Zone’s territory.
