Dance group „Raksti” was founded in 1999 in Ogre - one of the most wonderful cities of Latvia. Dance group „Raksti” is uniting people with one common interest –folk dance. During the e
xistence the group has created plenty of show programs, where besides the folk dances the original and creative choreography is present as well. It becomes even more exciting as national folklore and materials of national choreography are used as basic elements. Repertoire of the group is changing – it is disclosing values of national folklore as well as diversity of dance genre – starting with solo and cheerful, and ending with lyrical and sublime full group dances. Active trainings, performances and participations in many dance competitions and festivals are increasing the artistical performance level of the group which is securing the presence of the group among TOP 20 groups in Latvia already for 7 years. This is approved by authorized jury at the annual review of the folk dance groups in the Country. Dance group „Raksti” is rich with creative chances and traditions, which is ready to invest its work and time in keeping national traditions and culture on a high quality level and popularizing them locally as well as internationally. Summarizing the experience in last 10 years the group has participated in local National Dance Festivals and competitions as well as folklore festivals in such countries as Poland, Estonia, Mexico, Czech republic, Holland, Russia, Italy, France, South Korea, Turkey, Hungary, Cyprus and the group is ready to discover and delight the World more and more. Founder of the dance group and first leader is Inara Driksna. Dance group leader from 2006 to 2009 was Sandra Purmale, 2009 to 2018 - Edgars Tabors, 2018 to 2019 - Agrita Kaužena, 2019-2020- Inga Lavrinoviča. Tamāra Lisovcova took over the leadership in 2020 and continues up to date.
