Ir pagājuši 11 mēneši kopš Palermo norisinājās pirmā projekta “Gaming for Climate ChanCe” partneru tikšanās. Šajā laikā darbs norisinājies vairāk strādājot darba grupās klātienē un neklātienē un cenšoties fdefinēt vēlamās tēmas un stāstu, kas veidotu topošās iglītojošās spēles pamatu. Tagad esam nonākuši līdz testēšanas fāzei, kad testējam analogās spēles versiju, kas šķiet, ka nav pat vairs pirmā versija. Izrādās, ka viens ir izdomāt – mēs gribam, lai mums būtu spēle, kas veicinātu jauniešu iesaisti diskusijā par klimata pārmaiņām, bet pavisam kas cits ir, izveidot tādu spēli, kas tiešām to var panākt – lai informācija nebūtu pārāk vienkārša, nedz pārāk sarežģīta, lai spēles laikā visi varētu iesaistīties un izteikt savu viedokli, lai spēle nodrošinātu jaunu zināšanu apguvi un galu galā, lai tā neievelkas visas dienas garumā. Tāpēc vakar Stanislavs Babins, kurš atbild tieši par spēļu dinamikas izstrādi projektā, kopā ar jauniešiem un Radi Vidi Pats biedriem un brīvprātīgajiem organizēja divas spēles un jau ir savācis vairākas lpp ar atgriezenisko saiti, kas pēc Jāņiem jāved atkal uz Palermo un jādiskutē ar tictu iesaistīto organizāciju jaunatnes darbiniekiem. Šādus spēļu testus veic arī pārējās projektā iesaistītās organizācijas no Itālijas, Portugāles, Slovēnijas un Bulgārijas. Paralēli top arī digitālā spēle, kuru gaidām. Bet vēl rīt, piektdien, spēli spēlēsim kopā ar galda spēļu klubu Meeple Cave, kuru vada arī Radi Vidi Pats brīvprātīgais Sergejs.

Nākamā projekta aktivitāte – Jaunatnes darbinieku mācības Sicīlijas galvaspilsētā Palermo 26.-30.jūnijā, kurā piedalīties 4 dalībnieki no Liepājas – galda spēļu entuziasti, pedagogi un jaunatnes darbinieki.

It has been 11 months since the first meeting of the “Gaming for Climate Chance” project partners took place in Palermo. During this time, work has primarily involved in-person and remote working groups, striving to define the desired themes and narrative that will form the foundation of the upcoming educational game. We have now reached the testing phase, where we are testing a latest version of the board game.
It turns out that it’s one thing to come up with the idea—we want a game that encourages young people to engage in discussions about climate change—but it’s quite another to create a game that can actually achieve that —so that the information isn’t too simple or too complicated, so that everyone can participate and express their opinions during the game, so that the game facilitates the acquisition of new knowledge, and, ultimately, so that it doesn’t drag on all day long.
That is why yesterday Stanislavs Babins, who is directly responsible for developing the game mechanics for the project, together with the young people, members and volunteers of our organization, organized two games and has already collected several pages of feedback, which will be taken back to Palermo after Midsummer and discussed with the youth workers from the participating organizations. Similar game tests are also being conducted by the other organizations involved in the project from Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, and Bulgaria. Digital game is being developed as well which we’re looking forward to. But tomorrow, on Friday, we’ll be playing the game together with the board game club Meeple Cave, which is run by Sergejs, also a volunteer at Radi Vidi Pats.

The next project activity is a training course for youth workers in Palermo, the capital of Sicily, from June 26 to 30, in which four participants from Liepāja—board game enthusiasts, educators, and youth workers—will take part.
