🐖 Sometimes, a small opportunity can make a big difference.

In Dhading, Nepal, six women from the Ramche Farmers Group are improving their families' livelihoods through community-based pig farming.

Through the **JIBIKA Project**, implemented by our partner **ROYM-Nepal** with the support of **AEIN**, each family received two pigs and practical training on animal care and health.

Today, these women are earning additional income, supporting their children's education and sharing what they have learned with other members of the community.

What we love most about this story is that it's not just about livestock—it's about confidence, cooperation and building a stronger future together. 💚

🌱 Who would have thought that coconut husks could become a climate solution?

For years, Sidlappa and Rattamma saw piles of coconut husks accumulate as waste. Today, that same waste is helping them earn a better income while improving soil health for local farmers.

Thanks to training and support through the Climate Smart Village Programme, implemented by our partner **APMAS** with the support of **AEIN**, they learned how to turn coconut husks into biochar.

The result? More income for their family, healthier soils, and a practical solution that is now being adopted by other farmers in the area.

A great example of how local ideas can make a real difference—for people and for the environment. 💚

A better school environment can change a child's daily life.

At Shree Janata Basic School in western Nepal, damaged classrooms, inadequate seating and a leaking roof were making learning difficult for many children.

Through the Sahakarya Project, implemented by our partner SOSEC Nepal with the support of AEIN, the school received classroom improvements, educational materials and renovation support to create a safer and more welcoming learning environment.

Today, children attend school more regularly, participate more actively in class and enjoy a space where they can learn, play and grow with confidence.

Sometimes, improving a child's future starts with something as simple as a safe and inspiring classroom. 💙

In many communities across Karnataka, child marriage still quietly changes the course of children’s lives, especially for girls who are often forced to leave school too early and lose the chance to decide their own future.

But in Ballari and Koppal districts, communities are beginning to push back together.

Through the work of our partner Reads Ballari, adolescent girls, children’s groups, teachers, local authorities and community members are joining forces to prevent child marriage and protect children’s rights.

What started through local discussions and state-level workshops has now led to a major step forward: the Karnataka Government officially ordered the creation of Women and Child Protection Vigilance Committees across urban local bodies in November 2025.

Behind this decision are real stories of change.

Across 72 Gram Panchayats, local vigilance committees are now identifying vulnerable children, raising awareness, and helping families understand the importance of education and protection. Young girls are gaining confidence through life-skills activities, while vocational training is helping many young women build financial independence and reduce the risk of early marriage.

In six taluks alone, 63 children who had dropped out of school were able to return to education.

This is what resilience and collective action look like: communities coming together so that children can grow up with dignity, safety and opportunity.

In Kailali and Bhaktapur, women are no longer facing injustice alone.

What once remained hidden in silence is now being brought into the open through the strength of women’s groups. Together, they listen, support, guide and take action.

In 2025, these groups and social mobilizers documented 173 cases related to gender-based violence and justice issues. Behind each case is a woman, a family, and a story of courage.

With the support of their peers, survivors are being connected to legal aid, counselling and essential services. Women are gaining confidence, speaking up, and engaging with local authorities to defend their rights.

“Before, we stayed silent. Now, we stand together and take action.”
— Nanda Devi Saud, Godawari-7 Women’s Group Member

Together with CWAD, AEIN supports this collective strength: women standing together to build safer, more resilient communities.

In the hills of Surkhet, Nepal, Bhatteghari is a village shaped by resilience.

After the 2007 Simlepani landslide, 244 displaced families settled in this area without safe drinking water. For years, they depended on streams, leading to health problems, difficulties in livestock rearing and limited food production.

In 2024, together with our partner NNS,Navjyoti Center Surkhet and Nepal Nazareth Society, with financial support from AEIN - Aide à l'Enfance de l'Inde et du Népal and the valuable contribution of Foyer Assurances employees through their payroll giving, a sustainable drinking water system was established with strong community participation and support from local authorities.

Today, clean water reaches each household. Women are growing vegetables, pulses and maize, while families are also raising goats to strengthen their income. According to the Community Health Post in Raniban, water-borne diseases have decreased by 95%.

The community has also taken ownership: an 11-member Water Users Committee manages the system and has already saved one million rupees, approximately €6,200, for maintenance and sustainability.

As Mrs. Laxmi Shahi, Secretary of the Bhatteghari Women’s Group, says:
“With the support through different projects, our lifestyle has changed drastically.”

This is what lasting change means: clean water, better health, stronger livelihoods and a community empowered to shape its own future.

In Ward No. 5 of Bhangaha Municipality, Mahottari District, 25 community members came together with one shared ambition: to strengthen women’s voices and leadership.

During three days of training, organised by Roym Nepal with the financial support of AEIN and in coordination with Bhangaha Municipality, 20 women and 5 men explored what leadership means in daily life: confidence, participation, decision-making and the courage to take one’s place in the community.

Through group work, personal exchanges and practical exercises, participants reflected on their own experiences and discovered new ways to contribute to more inclusive and equal communities.

For AEIN, this training is a meaningful step towards supporting women not only as beneficiaries, but as leaders of change.

On Earth Day, the village came alive with small but meaningful actions

Children gathered with excitement, some carefully planting young saplings, others shaping seed balls with their hands, each one a small step towards greener forests. Nearby, a group sat together drawing and talking, sharing what they know about water, nature, and how to protect it.

There was laughter, curiosity, and a real sense of care for the environment. What stood out most was not just the activities, but the way these children are already thinking about their role in protecting the world around them.

We’re happy to share a few moments from this beautiful day, organised by our partner Savera Foundation.
