⚽ Saturday called for football — and we brought the team spirit!

Last Saturday, Sportunity and two teams from local AS Roma fanclub Roma Club Lussemburgo shared the pitch for a friendly football tournament — and the energy was on from the very first whistle! A shared love for the game kept everyone going and made for a fantastic afternoon of football.

But the day did not end with the final whistle. Everyone stayed to chat, share a few laughs and get to know each other beyond the game. We were also delighted to welcome Júlio Sérgio, former AS Roma goalkeeper and now a Brazilian football manager, among our guests.

For our participants with refugee backgrounds, moments like these are an opportunity to connect with Luxembourg’s local sport community and build friendships through a shared passion. That’s exactly why we organize joint sports activities bringing refugees and locals together through our Move&Grow programme, supported by the André Losch Fondation.

🌸 Hesperange turned pink last Saturday — and we were right there in the middle of it.

Last Saturday, Sportunity joined the annual Broschtkriibslaf — once again alongside our friends from AXA Assurances Luxembourg.

There is something wonderful about events that bring so many different people together around one shared cause, turning a day of running and fun into something that can make a real difference.

We were especially happy to see our participants from refugee families joining in alongside local residents. Moments like these create natural connections and remind us how sport can help people feel part of the community.

🍂 A school break is the perfect excuse to get moving, try something new and spend time together!

This November, Sportunity is inviting children from refugee families aged 8–14 to join us for a week of sports, creative activities, outdoor adventures and plenty of fun at our Holiday Camp.

From 2 to 6 November, kids will spend their afternoons playing, exploring and trying new things in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment — with plenty of opportunities to make friends, build confidence and enjoy a break from the usual school routine.

📅 Dates: 2–6 November (Monday to Friday)
🕒 Time: 14:00–18:00

What to expect:
⚽ Sports and active games, including football and karate.
🎨 Creative workshops and cultural activities
🌳 Outdoor adventures, excursions and group activities
🤝 A welcoming space to meet new friends, have fun and try something new

🍁 Some hikes are all about the trail. Others are about the people you meet on it.

Our Sunday in Redange was full of moments that are hard to plan: conversations that started on the trail, people laughing together, spontaneous encounters and one very unexpected meeting with the Kropemann right before Kropemannsfest itself! 👀

Refugees, newcomers and local residents came together for a day that was as much about the people as it was about the place. And somewhere between the first steps and the last photos, a group of strangers started to feel a little more like friends.

🍂 Autumn trails, a Luxembourgish legend and a festival waiting at the finish line.

Last Sunday, our multicultural hike programme took us to Redange. With refugees, newcomers and local residents walking side by side, we spent the day exploring autumn landscapes, getting to know each other and discovering another side of Luxembourg.

Along the way, participants took part in a special quest and followed clues to learn more about the Kropemann — a mysterious figure from Luxembourgish folklore.

But the biggest surprise was still waiting for us at the end of the trail. Just after reaching Redange, the group actually came face to face with the Kropemann himself! Our mysterious host greeted the hikers and then it was time for the Kropemannsfest itself — with music, festivities and a lively crowd filling the streets of Redange.

From a walk through the Luxembourgish countryside to a celebration rooted in local folklore, the day brought people from different backgrounds together around a shared experience, and gave us a chance to discover a little more of Luxembourg.

🏃‍♀️ There is nothing quite like starting a day surrounded by runners, good energy and a great cause.

Last Saturday, Sportunity took part in Lëtz Go Gold, a charity run organized by the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner to support research into childhood cancer.

As part of our Move&Grow programme, we team up with our corporate partners to create opportunities for refugees to get active, try something new and connect with local community through sport. This time, we joined forces with Fidelity International for a day of running, meeting new people and sharing the experience.

The morning started with a breakfast, giving everyone a chance to meet, chat and get to know each other before the race. Then came the group warm-up, some last-minute excitement and finally, the starting line!

Some ran 1.5 km, some 5, some 10, but everyone brought their own energy to the day. From the first conversations over breakfast to cheering each other on along the route, it was a great way to spend a Saturday together.

A big thank you to Fidelity International for making this collaboration possible and for welcoming our participants into the team. We are looking forward to more activities together!

We would also like to thank the André Losch Fondation for supporting Move&Grow programme and helping us bring more opportunities to refugees through sport.

🌰 Autumn in Luxembourg comes with castles, countryside walks and a whole lot of walnuts.

On October 11, our next Chemins croisés hike will take us to Vianden, one of Luxembourg’s most picturesque towns, for the traditional Veiner Nëssmoort walnut festival.

We will spend the day exploring the countryside around Vianden on an 8.5 km trail, before getting a taste of the local festivities. The walnut market is a chance to see a different side of Luxembourg’s traditions, enjoy seasonal specialities and experience a local celebration together.

As always, this is a multicultural hike bringing together refugees, newcomers and local residents. Whether you are here to walk, meet people, discover a new place or simply spend an autumn Sunday outdoors, you are very welcome.

🍁 October is just around the corner, and our regular sports activities continue throughout the month!

If you are looking for a chance to move, learn something new, meet people, or simply make some time for yourself each week, come and join us. All our regular activities are free and open to people with refugee backgrounds living in Luxembourg.

Here’s what is on the schedule in October:

🥋 Karate with Alireza – Thursdays at 16:00
A welcoming session where you can work on coordination, confidence, movement, and new skills. No previous experience is needed — just come and give it a try!

🧘 Pilates with Tanya Vernygor – Saturdays at 14-00
A weekly session to strengthen your body, improve flexibility, and take some time to recharge. Open to all levels.

⚽ Kids' Football with Yurii Feshchenko – Saturdays at 14:00
For refugee children aged 8–16. A chance to develop football skills, stay active, and enjoy playing and learning together.

⚽ Adult Football with coach Andrei – Saturdays at 14:00
Weekly training and friendly matches for all levels. Whether you have been playing for years or are just looking to get moving, you are welcome to join.
