BCC Sustainability Group Expert Discussions on ESG risk management for banks: progress is evident, yet the journey is not always straightforward.

The BCC Sustainability Group convened a series of exchanges and a dedicated roundtable with senior practitioners and subject-matter experts on the realities of ESG data, governance integration and prudential transition planning under CRD VI.

The discussions highlighted persistent structural challenges related to the collection of ESG data, especially in the post‑Omnibus context, growing pressure to embed ESG into governance and first‑line decision‑making, and key observations arising from the preparation of the first iteration of prudential transition plans (PTPs). Despite clear progress, banks continue to navigate methodological constraints, the need for continuous capacity and knowledge development and the challenge of building credible, actionable PTPs.

Pragmatic approaches, strong data integrity and institution‑wide engagement were said to be essential to advance ESG risk management.

Legends of cricket, Lord Ian Botham and Matthew Hoggard will be in attendance, and Monty Panesar will be playing for the Optimists XI as they take on the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground in Walferdange.

This weekend, the Optimists Cricket Club celebrate their 50th anniversary and as part of the festivities, have a match organised on Sunday 7th June that you are welcome to attend.

The match starts from 13:00 and there will be food and drinks available for sale all afternoon.

You will be very welcomed, and it is a very family friendly environment. Maybe get some tips before the British Chamber play the Optimists Cricket Club on 5th July!

How can banks derive strategic value from integrating ESG risks into governance, risk management and capital planning frameworks?

On 24 June 2026, The British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg will host an expert roundtable on ESG risks under CRD VI, bringing together a select group of professionals from banks, consulting firms and law firms in Luxembourg.

The discussion will focus on:

· Key strategic and operational challenges in integrating ESG risks into risk management, in line with EBA ESG Guidelines and evolving supervisory expectations.

· Potential levers to turn these regulatory developments into strategic value by strengthening resilience, adapting business models and expanding sustainable product offerings.

The roundtable will provide an open and collaborative forum for peers to exchange ideas, practical experience and good practices.

The key takeaways from the discussion will be consolidated into an anonymised summary and published on the BCC website to contribute to knowledge-sharing across the business community.

This session will be followed by a networking cocktail.
