A new public petition is now open in Luxembourg. 🇱🇺

4251 concerns the inclusion of the right to life in Luxembourg’s Constitution and proposes adding explicit reference to the right to life and human dignity in Article 12.

Available on the official platform of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, where the full proposal, its reasoning and further information can be consulted.

There is something deeply revealing in the way our culture increasingly speaks about dignity.

We often locate dignity in the power to decide: to decide whether a life should begin, continue, or end; to decide whether dependence, illness, disability, or suffering make life still worth living. Autonomy becomes almost synonymous with dignity.

But that reverses the order of things. If dignity depends on our capacity to choose, then those with the least autonomy inevitably become those whose dignity is most fragile.

The unborn child, the severely disabled person, the unconscious patient, the elderly person with dementia, the person overwhelmed by suffering...

A truly human society should not respond to vulnerability by perfecting the mechanisms through which life can be rejected. It should respond by becoming better at carrying vulnerability with people.

Perhaps the real measure of progress is not how efficiently we can eliminate lives judged too difficult, but how seriously we are prepared to love, accompany and protect human beings precisely when choice, strength and independence disappear.

We want to be able to talk about the value of life in a way that is human. We speak because we believe that every human life has value.

More than 200 people gathered last Saturday 30th of May in Luxembourg to stand for life. This is huge! 🎇

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, and especially to .naissante, whose dedication, courage, and tireless work made this event possible.👏🏻👏🏻

A special thank you as well to all those who shared their stories, their talents, and their time. The testimonies, music, poetry, and conversations reminded us that behind every discussion on life there are real people, families, heartbreaks and challenges❤️‍🩹

Thank YOU for having taken part of your day to join or spread this important event. It is a public witness for the value of life, and we cannot and should not stay silent 🤐

A society is ultimately judged by how it treats its most vulnerable members. We believe that every human life has inherent dignity, and that mothers deserve genuine support, solidarity, and hope. Let's build that kind of society!

Two days ago, Luxembourg stood for life. And we are not sitting back down 👣

Whether Luxembourg gives us sunshine, heat, rain, or all three in the space of an hour, we recommend coming prepared: water, sun cream, sunglasses, a hat, an umbrella, and a white shirt.

But above all, don't forget to bring joy and hope. Those are the two essentials that won't fit in a bag.
