Dear Sure to Sure Swimrun Participants,
After a long deliberation with the organising committee and reviewing the latest weather forecasts, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Sure to Sure Swimrun 2026.
The forecast for Saturday indicates exceptionally high temperatures in the Lultzhausen area. After a thorough risk assessment, we believe these conditions present an unacceptable health and safety risk for participants, volunteers, and staff.
In reaching this decision, we considered several factors. Large sections of the course are relatively remote, with limited access for rapid evacuation or medical intervention. Several climbs are steep and exposed, offering little protection from the sun during the hottest part of the day. In addition, with the Centre Sportif unavailable, we are unable to provide adequate shaded facilities in the start and finish area.
While experienced endurance athletes may be capable of performing safely in these temperatures, we have a duty of care to all participants. Despite closely monitoring the situation and exploring a range of mitigation measures, we do not believe we can provide a sufficiently safe racing environment under the forecast conditions.
We know many of you have trained hard and were looking forward to this event, and we are deeply disappointed to make this announcement. However, participant safety must always come first.
All registered participants have received an email with more information about the registration transfers or refunds.
(Way too) Warm regards
Thomas, Nick & Yann
