From pay-to-fly schemes to zero-hour contracts and wet-lease loopholes,
atypical employment is on the rise.

Research from the Karolinska Institute, UGent Study 2.0, and the EASA Article 89 study points to the same reality: less stability, less reporting, and more pressure.

Today at the International Labour Day, the Association Luxembourgeoise des Pilotes de Ligne recognizes the pilots whose professionalism and dedication form the backbone of aviation safety.

“As airline pilots, we consider ourselves as the safety conscience of the air transport system,
entrusted with the lives of our passengers, and the final authority to safeguard the safety of the
flight and the integrity of the aviation safety system. We are decision-makers, leaders, and
stewards of the trust the regulators, the industry and the traveling public put into us, committed to
acting with skill, independence, and an uncompromising dedication to safety.”

Airline pilots are the independent safety conscience of the air transport system, entrusted with
lives, goods and system integrity - we deliver safety.

To all pilots wherever they are: thank you for making every flight a safe flight.

World Pilots’ Day in Istanbul, Where It Began!

Today, on World Pilots’ Day, we are proud to be in Istanbul, Türkiye, attending hosted by our friends and colleagues of TALPA (Turkiye Airline Pilots' Association).

This Conference has highlighted the professionalism, dedication, and responsibility carried by pilots everywhere, and the shared commitment to safety that unites our profession.

This week’s key message has been the importance of Positive Safety Culture, creating an environment where pilots can report hazards, incidents, and honest mistakes openly, so the entire aviation system can learn and improve.

When pilots are empowered to speak up, aviation becomes safer for everyone.

Today we celebrate pilots. Tomorrow, together with IFALPA we continue the work of strengthening the culture that keeps aviation safe.
