🚶‍♀️ A practical guide for clubs: how to bring women back to sport

Under Women, We Walk!, we developed a practical Engagement Strategy for sports clubs, built around one simple idea: Walking Football. No running, no pressure, no prior experience needed, just an accessible, social way back into physical activity.

The guide covers the real barriers women face (time, caregiving, stereotypes, safety, access), why Walking Football removes many of them, and how clubs can build welcoming, women-friendly sessions - from recruitment to a full 4-phase roadmap for getting started.

🚶‍♀️ New insights into women's participation in sport

Under Women, We Walk!, we conducted a survey among 50 women aged 30+ across our partner countries to understand why women step away from sport — and what would bring them back.

The findings show that lack of interest isn't the issue: 74% had previously played sport regularly, and 82% are open to returning. The real barriers are lack of time (71%) and family responsibilities (63%). The strongest motivators for coming back are flexible scheduling, women-focused activities, and welcoming, judgment-free environments.
