Finally, the spotlight is on the winners of our Social Entrepreneurship Challenge 2021, where teams of high school students competed on building entrepreneurial ideas on a given theme within a week of hard work (and much fun!). And the winner is…. Team Nature Defense League from European School of Luxembourg II !

Samuel, Tommaso, Marko, Radu and Timotej, guided by their mentor Bert Boerman of Governance.com, built a convincing business idea helping to lower food waste by turning ugly fruit into smoothies. The well elaborated business plan earned the team an immersive experience at a social enterprise - a day trip to , an artisan chocolate manufacturer in Luxembourg that provides employment to people with disabilities.

The 2nd prize of the Social Entrepreneurship Challenge dedicated to shared economy went to the team RedGreenBlue of Athénée de Luxembourg. Mentored by Francesca Pogliani, cofounder of , the teammates Chaitanya, Aryaman, James and Andrew (pictured here with Daisy of team) developed a business idea promoting sustainable tourism in Luxembourg. A few days later, the team could celebrate their success over a dinner at .luxembourg - a popular restaurant with delicious Middle Eastern food and an exemplary social enterprise providing dozens of refugees in Luxembourg with employment opportunities.

The new school year has just started, bringing us closer to the new edition of Impact Wombats Social Entrepreneurship Challenge. A perfect time to refresh some great memories and introduce the top teams of the past edition of the Challenge, whose business ideas inspired by the values of sharing economy impressed us the most.

Let us start with featuring the 3rd prize winners: Stefan, Samuel, Philippe and Luc of Team Ekomfort (Lycée Aline Mayrisch) – pictured here with Aiona of team. Mentored by Patrick Rahme, founder of , they developed a business idea for renting out sheds filled with gardening tools. The 3rd place in the Challenge earned the team a gift card to OUNI, Luxembourg’s only package free grocery store, as a reward.
