The Project:
Join young people from Lithuania, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, and Latvia to explore digital well-being and overcome “scroll fatigue” 🇱🇹. You’ll discover how excessive social media and news consumption can affect your emotional well-being, concentration, sleep, and real-life connections. Through interactive workshops, creative activities, discussions, games, and reflection, you’ll learn practical ways to create healthier digital boundaries, improve your digital literacy, and regain control over your online and offline life 🇱🇹.

Eco voices: Youth environmental journalism - Continuing the story 🇱🇹🌍

After our youth exchange in Riga, we are still carrying the experience with us.

Participants created two main outputs that we are proud to share:

📘 A digital toolkit on environmental journalism and storytelling: practical steps for finding stories, researching, interviewing, and using visual formats. Created by participants, for youth workers and young people.

🎥 Video news: short news piece on environmental issues, created by participants to practice clear and engaging storytelling.

Both outputs are now available online and ready to be used by anyone who wants to tell stories that matter.

Our Lithuanian team recently took part in the “Eco Voices: Youth Environmental Journalism” Youth Exchange in Riga, Latvia, together with young people from Latvia, Italy, and Azerbaijan. The project focused on environmental journalism and media literacy, giving participants the chance to explore how media can be used to tell climate stories responsibly and impactfully.

During the project, they researched environmental challenges in different countries. They visited Media Hub Riga, where they learned from professional journalists about how media covers climate issues and the importance of independent journalism. They also took part in workshops on fact-checking, research methods, and identifying misinformation. They practiced empathy interviews, created storyboards, and produced their own journalistic outputs, including articles, zines, and visuals, which they later published on the project's Instagram page.

Through these activities, they developed practical skills in writing, interviewing, and visual storytelling. They gained confidence in speaking and presenting in English and learned how to work effectively in international teams. They also improved their understanding of media literacy, critical thinking, and the ethical responsibilities of journalism. Beyond the learning, they built new friendships and professional connections that we hope to maintain in the future.

The project gave us practical tools and experiences that we can apply in our studies, future work, and daily lives.

Bridges Not Walls

We came back from Larnaca, Cyprus, with new experiences and lasting friendships from the From Bias to Belonging project. 🇨🇾🇱🇹

During the project we learned to recognize stereotypes and hate speech in everyday life, understand human rights documents like UDHR and ECHR and how to apply them to real situations, walk in the shoes of migrants through theatre and role play, use the Peacemaker Protocol - a practical tool to solve conflicts without breaking relationships, see how media shapes opinions and how to rewrite news articles to fight microaggression, value active listening and empathy in difficult conversations, design inclusive public spaces where everyone feels welcome regardless of background, recognise that privilege is not the same for everyone – and that reflection leads to real change, and celebrate diversity through food, dance, music and storytelling. 🌍

Besides this, every day was filled with dancing, eating, and laughing together. The group celebrated three cultural nights and shared Lithuanian traditions, including Easter eggs, games, quizzes, and traditional dances with new friends. Visits to mosques and churches were made with respect and curiosity. Local people shared real stories about life in Cyprus, where different religions, languages, and traditions have lived together for hundreds of years. 🏛️

As an NGO, we have enriched our methodology through this project. We learned new tools and approaches to make our youth work more inclusive and accessible. The activities we experienced, from the Peacemaker Protocol to the Human Rights Treasure Hunt, from theatre of the oppressed to inclusive space design, will now be part of our work with our local community in Lithuania. We will employ these methods to ensure that every young person, regardless of background or ability, feels welcome in our activities.

About Project:
The project addresses a critical rise in social polarization, xenophobia, and hate speech currently affecting youth across Europe. Many young people living in multicultural environments lack the necessary
intercultural literacy and resilience to move from being passive bystanders to active "upstanders" against discrimination. Furthermore, the prevalence of digital echo chambers often reinforces negative stereotypes, making it difficult for youth to engage in meaningful dialogue. This initiative specifically targets these gaps by fostering a sense of belonging and providing participants, especially those facing social or economic barriers, with the practical tools needed to deconstruct personal biases and navigate diverse societies with empathy and confidence.

Aligned with the Erasmus+ programme, it focuses on learning mobility, personal growth, non-formal education, sustainability, and social inclusion — encouraging young people to become active, responsible citizens of a united and resilient Europe.
