Only 10 seats left!

How We Dine Is How We Live- Flavours from the Indian Ocean.

For a couple of years now, I've been hosting cultural dinners in my studio, inviting cooks from different countries to prepare traditional dishes, and bringing together locals and foreigners around a shared table, and letting food do what it does best: connect.
This Friday, I’ll be the one cooking. And you are warmly invited.
It’s also a preview of something I’ve been wanting to develop further: this summer, I’ll be curating a series of dinners, taking the table as a way of thinking about society itself. Because what we eat and how we eat is also a political act.
Because food never comes alone. Every dish carries a history of land, of movement, of exchange.
This Friday, the table will be set with flavours from the Indian Ocean. We’ll eat together and I’ll tell you stories. Of empires and Sultans. Of the Comoros Islands as a matrilineal society, where land, inheritance, and memory pass through women. Of what it means to carry a cuisine across an ocean and find it changed, and unchanged on the other side.
It will be warm. It will be intimate. And you'll tell me about my cooking skills 🙂.

✨ Meet the Artist Behind Sound Magic – Tiny Soiree ✨

For this edition of Sound Magic, we welcome Kat Bumbul of Sound Mysterium — a sound artist and collector of rare, ritual instruments that invite listeners into deep states of presence and inner exploration.

Kat works with an extraordinary collection of around 150 vintage and antique singing bowls, many of them hundreds of years old, each carrying a unique character and resonance. For this intimate Tiny Soiree, she will bring a carefully selected set of bowls alongside other instruments known for their ritual use, trance-inducing qualities, and sound healing traditions.

The evening will unfold gently — beginning with tea in a candlelit setting, followed by an interactive sound exploration workshop, and culminating in an immersive sound journey performance.

This is not just a concert — it’s an invitation to listen differently, to slow down, and to experience sound as a gateway to intuition, imagination, and deep relaxation.

📍 Sound Magic – Tiny Soiree
🫖 Tea • Sound exploration • Immersive concert
🧘 Bring a mat or blanket if you'd like to lie down

✨ Join us for this intimate evening of sound and discovery.
Spots are limited — reserve your place and let yourself be guided by sound.

Last Friday at
SociaLoftas felt like one of those evenings you wish could last a bit longer.
Our last How We Dine Is How We Live, the Italian dinner, was a really beautiful evening.
Michael Paolini put a lot of care into the cooking, from the fresh homemade tagliatelle to a tiramisu that quietly brought everything together at the end. The whole table felt it, not just the food, but the attention, the kindness, the way the evening unfolded.
What made it even more special was the small workshop at the end. Preparing a bit of pasta together added something simple and joyful, very much in the SociaLoftas spirit.
More and more, these evenings are becoming what we hoped they would be: warm, open, and shaped by the people around the table.
Next week, we continue in that same atmosphere.
Dan Gonzales, who cooked the Peruvian dinner a couple of weeks ago, has agreed to host again, this time for a smaller (a dinner/conversation salon), more intimate table, with the same dish that stayed with many of us. If you feel curious to join this one, you are very welcome. (Details in the comments)
And if not, you can always join us on Sunday for our Digital Detox: Open Picnic, a shared table where everyone brings something and we spend a few hours together without screens.

Greetings to you all,

These last months at Socialoftas, our How We Dine Is How We Live dinners have brought a lot of warmth, laughter, flavour, and beautiful encounters.
Each evening has had its own atmosphere, from Egyptian Christian stories to the rhythmic dance of Madagascar, to the colours and flavours of Peru. Different cultures, different moods, but each time the same simple joy of gathering around a table and sharing something real.
This Friday, we continue with an Italian dinner, and this one will have its own little twist. At the end of the evening, chef Michael Paolini will guide us through a small hands-on moment where we’ll prepare a portion of fresh handmade tagliatelle to take home. It feels like it will be both joyful and delicious, and very much in the Socialoftas spirit.
If you’ve been curious about joining one of these evenings, you’re very welcome.

If you don’t have plans this evening, you’re very welcome to join us for Iftar at Socialoftas.
This evening, we’re opening our doors at Socialoftas for Iftar.
At sunset (6pm), we’ll break the fast together around a big, shared table. Everyone brings something, and slowly the table fills, plate by plate, a generous potluck in the spirit of Ramadan.
Everyone is welcome, across beliefs and backgrounds, to share this evening in our cozy studio.
We’re also grateful that a few small local food makers and independent cooks are joining and contributing to the table: Merienda - Filipiniečių Užkandžiai/ Filipino snacks, Max Dorc Kitchen and
Tamima.
If this resonates with you, you are very welcome.

Greetings,

Tomorrow at 7:00 pm — Malagasy Dinner at Socialoftas
How We Dine Is How We Live — Malagasy Edition

We still have a few seats left and once they’re filled, that’s it.

Tomorrow evening, we gather around a Malagasy table, discovering Madagascar through food, story, and rhythm.

On the menu:

Entrée — Shrimp fritters & Malagasy-style fruit salad
Main — Chicken in coconut milk with rice
Dessert — Godrogodro or M**o Ravina

And after dinner, a touch of Salegy, Madagascar’s vibrant dance tradition to gently lift the room.

These dinners are intimate and multicultural, a space to meet beyond small talk, to taste something new, to sit at a table you didn’t know you needed.

If you’ve been thinking about coming, now is the moment.

Please register tonight so we can prepare the food with care. Payment can be made at the door.

Kražių g. 25
Doors open 6:45 pm
Dinner begins 7:00 pm

See you at the table.

A couple of weeks ago, we gathered for our very first Socialoftas Salon, a Filipino dinner prepared by our friend Celina Varanavicius, with the theme “what we carry when we move.” It was intimate, thoughtful, and full of honest conversation.

This week, we continue.

Dan Gonzales, a Peruvian artist, designer, and cook will prepare a colourful Peruvian dinner for us, and we’ll gather around the theme of time and how we experience it. This is another evening to meet across cultures and stories.

And beyond the salon, the week continues at Socialoftas: our Language Evenings (English & Spanish), welcoming spaces to practice and connect. And on Saturday, Art Night, where creativity brings people together.

If you’re curious, you can find all our February events in the link in the comments.

There’s always a seat at the table.
