Strengthening EU-Ukraine Business Ties: Insights from the 2025 EU-Ukraine Business Summit

🌎 The EU-Ukraine Business Summit 2025, held on April 10–11 at Autoworld in Brussels, brought together policymakers, business leaders, and investors to discuss Ukraine’s economic integration with the European Union.

ULCC board member Giedrė Dailidėnaitė participated in the workshop themed “B2B Cooperation: Lessons Learned and New Pathways to Strengthen EU-Ukraine Business Links” moderated by first vice president of the Polish Ukrainian chamber of commerce Dariusz Szymczycha.

Key notes:

✅ Resilience, adaptability and flexibility remain key features of businesses amidst ongoing challenges. And a big lesson learned now from Ukraine business for business outside Ukraine to prepare for future.
✅ An increasing need for better financing access and derisking. Faster and better adapted financing and derisking tools are further required to promote investments, trade and collaboration
✅ Strengthening and promoting the role of SMEs, finding new ways to incentivize their steps to enter Ukraine.

🇱🇹❤️🇺🇦 Let us move ahead with optimism and determination. European and Ukrainian businesses share not just markets, but values of hard work, ingenuity, and hope for the future. The war has also revealed the best in our cooperation. Let’s build on that strength.

📢 ULCC Board Meeting with MFA Representatives – Lithuanian Business Involvement in Ukraine’s Reconstruction

Today, the Ukrainian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce (ULCC) Board met with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to discuss opportunities for Lithuanian businesses to contribute to Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction.

Participants of the meeting:
🔹 Darius Skusevicius– MFA Ambassador-at-Large for the Coordination of Recovery and Reconstruction of Ukraine
🔹 Lina Ramanauskaitė– MFA Counsellor the External Economic Relations and Economic Security Policy Department
🔹 Kristina L. Aleknienė– Chairwoman of the ULCC Board
🔹 Jonas Zaronskis, Giedrė Dailidėnaitė, Vilma Bruziene, Anžela Kuncevič– ULCC Board members

✅ During the meeting, we discussed the involvement of Lithuanian businesses in Ukraine’s reconstruction, explored potential cooperation opportunities, and reviewed planned projects by the MFA and Central project management agency (CPA) in this area. Special attention was given not only to large enterprises but also to the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). We explored how Lithuanian SMEs can engage in Ukraine’s recovery process, find business partners, and take advantage of international initiatives and funding opportunities.

✅ Lithuanian businesses have a unique opportunity to contribute to Ukraine’s economic recovery—whether through investments or by participating in projects related to infrastructure, energy, innovation, and more. ULCC is committed to supporting both large enterprises and SMEs in finding their place in this process and fostering sustainable cooperation.

We appreciate the productive dialogue with the MFA and firmly believe that close collaboration between the public and private sectors can bring tangible results!

🇱🇹 March 11th – Lithuania’s Independence Restoration Day 🇱🇹🤝🇺🇦

Today, we celebrate Lithuania’s Independence Restoration Day – a historic moment of courage, resilience, and unity. On this day in 1990, Lithuania proudly reclaimed its independence, paving the way for a future built on freedom, democracy, and national pride.

As Ukrainian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce (ULCC), we honor this day with deep admiration and stand in unwavering solidarity with our Lithuanian- Ukrainian friends and partners. The strength and determination Lithuania showed in its path to freedom inspire, especially in times when Ukraine fights for its sovereignty and independence.

🤝 Together, we are stronger – our nations share a deep bond rooted in history, shared values, and a vision for a peaceful and prosperous future.
💙💛 Ukraine stands with Lithuania, just as Lithuania stands with Ukraine.

Let today be a reminder that the fight for freedom is never in vain, and that unity, courage, and perseverance always lead to victory. ✊🇱🇹🇺🇦

Ukrainians Who Found Refuge in Lithuania Are Becoming Employers Themselves

It has been three years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. During this time, millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes, many of them abandoning their businesses as well. However, Ukrainians who have relocated to Lithuania are not only successfully finding jobs in Lithuanian companies but are also becoming employers themselves. It is estimated that there are currently around 2,600 business entities in Lithuania where Ukrainian citizens own more than 50% of the shares.

“Lithuania has always been strong in collaborating with other nations, and during these difficult times, we stand with the Ukrainians. We are pleased that they find not only a safe environment here but also opportunities to integrate into society, work, and establish businesses. We hope that this cooperation, once the war ends, will become a solid foundation for the growth and further development of both countries,” said Minister of Economy and Innovation Lukas Savickas.

Over the past three years—from the first quarter of 2022 to the third quarter of 2024—Ukrainian direct investments in Lithuania have grown by €44.48 million, bringing total Ukrainian direct investments in Lithuania to nearly €127 million.

The largest share of these investments—20%—has gone into private real estate acquisition and sales. Another 19% has been allocated to wholesale and retail trade, while nearly 13% has been invested in the manufacturing sector.

Among the Ukrainian businesses operating in Lithuania are companies such as Kormotech, a pet food manufacturer that plans to invest €60 million in Kėdainiai and has begun construction of its second factory. The new factory is expected to create around 200 new jobs. Other companies include IT wholesaler Kvazar-Micro, Ukrainian parcel delivery company Nova Post, and several others.

36,000 Ukrainians Are Employed in Lithuania

Beyond starting businesses, many Ukrainians are also successfully employed across various sectors in Lithuania, including industry, services, technology, logistics, and others. As of early February this year, 36,100 Ukrainians were working in Lithuania under employment contracts.

Lithuanian institutions and the business community are also working to facilitate the integration of Ukrainians by providing opportunities to acquire new skills, learn the Lithuanian language, and successfully enter the labor market. Some businesses have already introduced additional programs for hiring Ukrainians, upgrading their qualifications, and supporting their professional development.
