Holding the Space for Stories — 2-day Playback Theatre workshop in Vilnius

How does a space emerge where people feel safe to tell their stories?

We invite Playback Theatre practitioners — actors, musicians, conductors, and facilitators.

This workshop explores the often less visible, yet essential elements of Playback Theatre: how the structure is held, how listening happens, and how the conditions for stories to unfold are created.

During the training, participants will:
• deepen their understanding of the conductor’s role
• practice interviewing and listening to support the teller
• explore rhythm and dramaturgy in a Playback event
• work with the sideline effect and supporting roles
• develop ensemble awareness through practice and reflection

The training is led by Synne and Jan Platander (Sweden), co-founders of Teater X in Stockholm and leaders of the Scandinavian Playback Theatre Studio (affiliated with the Centre for Playback Theatre).
With nearly three decades of experience, they bring a rich combination of Playback Theatre, psychodrama, adult education, and organizational work.

Tomorrow in Vilnius — Playback Theatre performance

We invite you to join an evening of live storytelling and shared human experience.

Playback Theatre is an improvisational form where personal stories from the audience are transformed into live performance through movement, music, and voice.
Each performance is unique — created in the moment, together with those who are present.

This event offers a space to listen, to reflect, and to connect through stories of identity, migration, and belonging.

You are welcome to share a story — or simply to be there and witness.

Genres in Playback Theatre — 2-day international training in Vilnius

We invite you to join a professional Playback Theatre workshop focused on working with genre as a dramaturgical tool.

In Playback, we often focus on listening and staying true to the story.
This training explores another layer: how form shapes meaning.

What happens when the same story is played as a comedy, a tragedy, a horror scene, or a musical?
How does genre influence perception, rhythm, and emotional distance?
And how can we use it consciously — without losing the heart of the story?

During this two-day workshop, participants will work practically with:
• playing the same story in different genres
• identifying and holding the heart of the story
• making clear dramaturgical and aesthetic choices
• working with genre conventions, clichés, and references as tools
• expanding ensemble flexibility and expressive range

The training is led by Jori Linnamäki (Finland) — Playback Theatre Leadership Trainer, former president of IPTN, and an experienced practitioner in dramaturgy, group work, and applied theatre.

The Territory of Atmosphere — an experiential evening with Playback Theatre

How does a space become alive?

Before words are spoken, before stories are shared, something already exists between people — a subtle atmosphere that shapes how we feel, listen, and connect.

This Thursday we invite you to explore this “territory of atmosphere” through the tools of Playback Theatre — a participatory art form where personal stories are expressed through improvisation, movement, and shared presence.

During the evening, we will focus on attention, imagination, and group awareness — exploring how a safe and responsive space can be created together, and how it supports authentic expression and human connection.

This experience is open to everyone.
No prior theatre background is needed.

The Art of Staying Connected
Playback Theatre Training Evening

What does it really mean to stay connected in action?

In Playback Theatre, connection is not an idea — it is a practice.
It happens in movement, in attention, in timing, in the subtle adjustments we make to one another.

During this training we will work on:
• ensemble awareness
• synchronisation without imitation
• rhythm and responsiveness
• staying present under pressure
• sensing the space between people

This is not a performance.
It is a focused, embodied training space for those who want to deepen their practice — whether you are a performer, facilitator, or simply curious about ensemble work.

Theatre begins where attention becomes shared.

🌿 Playback Evening: Stories With Many Sides — Couples
Exploring relationships, multidimensional stories, and the space “between”

Have you ever tried to tell a story about your relationship with someone…
and suddenly realized there is no single version of it?

As if the story has layers.
As if it changes depending on the angle.
As if more than one truth lives inside the same moment.

This Thursday, we invite you to explore exactly that.

Through Couples — one of the most expressive Playback Theatre forms — we will work with stories about relationships, conflict, transformation, tension, and connection. It is a form that reveals the space between two people, where meaning is created.

Part 1 — Warm-Up
We begin with embodied attunement, emotional awareness, and movement-based exercises that help us feel the multidimensionality of our inner landscape.

Part 2 — Playback Form: Couples
A large and nuanced form ideal for stories about:
• partners, parents, friends, colleagues
• long-term dynamics and life transitions
• inner or interpersonal conflict
• the archetypal tension of “me” and “the other”

📅 Date: Thursday, December 11
🕖 Time: 19:00–21:00 (doors open 18:50)
📍 Location: P. Vileišio g. 18N, Vilnius
Side entrance — follow the orange flags.
Room: 1st floor, second door on the left.

💶 Fee: 15 EUR
📝 Registration (required): https://forms.gle/Ama3H1BfErubhvRi9
🔗 FB Event: https://fb.me/e/5rDIlz7Fe

Come discover how two perspectives, two truths, two emotional worlds can coexist — and how Playback Theatre transforms them into art.

We look forward to welcoming you in a warm, safe, and creative space. ✨
