Looking back at another memorable Sea Festival 2026, Klaipeda Lithuania!

The Lithuanian Seafarers' Union proudly took part in a series of meaningful events throughout the celebration, including the traditional parade, the official opening ceremony, commemorative tributes to those lost at sea, remembrance ceremonies honoring the crew of Linkuva and Lithuania's first Port Captain Ludvikas Stulpinas, as well as community gatherings celebrating maritime heritage.

During the official opening ceremony, outstanding members of Lithuania's maritime community were recognized for their dedication and achievements:

𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐦𝐯𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐬 was awarded the title of 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 2026 for his exceptional courage and professionalism in rescuing five Brazilian fishermen in the Atlantic Ocean.

𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐬 received the 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 for his lifelong contribution to the maritime industry and the preservation of Lithuania's maritime traditions.

The prestigious 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧 distinction was presented to experienced seafarers in recognition of their decades of dedicated service at sea.

Congratulations to all the award recipients and sincere thanks to everyone who represented the Lithuanian Seafarers' Union with pride throughout the Sea Festival.

This year, the Lithuanian Seafarers’ Union celebrates its 103rd anniversary - a strong voice protecting the rights and interests of Lithuanian seafarers.

No wonder many on shore look with admiration at our seafarers, who can rely on such a committed and active maritime organization.

Members of Jūrų Kapitonų Asociacija | the Lithuanian Sea Captains Association | recently visited OJ Crew where CEO Artur Truš presented the company’s crewing activities and shared insights into daily operations, cooperation with seafarers, and the maritime recruitment industry.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for meaningful discussions, exchange of experience, and conversations about current topics in the maritime sector. It was a valuable and engaging afternoon that strengthened connections within the maritime community.

Last week, Klaipėda became the center of maritime spirit and youth engagement as the national student competition “Jūrų Keliais 2026”, organized by Lietuvos jūreivystės akademija /Lithuanian Maritime Academy/, brought together nearly 300 students from across Lithuania. ⚓

For decades, this competition has introduced young people to the maritime world, encouraging interest in careers at sea and within the wider maritime industry. Over two dynamic days, participants tested their skills through practical challenges, teamwork activities, and real-life maritime tasks.

As social partners of the initiative, OJ Crew and the Lietuvos jūrininkų sąjunga /Lithuanian Seafarers’ Union/ are proud to support projects that inspire and educate the next generation of maritime professionals.
