Transforming Hate into Understanding!
We are officially back from an unforgettable week in Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania, where our team proudly represented Lithuania in the Erasmus+ training course, "From Hate To Understanding"! Alongside 40 inspiring youth workers from 10 different countries, we dove heart-first into learning how to combat hate speech and build more inclusive spaces. It was a beautiful, intense journey of both reflection and action.
Together, we:
Explored Tough Realities: We tackled media literacy and fake news with local journalists, shared our own national contexts, and used tools like the "Pyramid of Hate" to understand how biases grow into systemic discrimination.
Gained Hands-On Tools: Through the "Dignityland" human rights simulation, we debated social policies, and we mastered 14 non-formal education methods—even using theater to act out creative solutions to bullying and exclusion.
Learned from the Community: We stepped outside the classroom to visit local initiatives like the Startup Hub and GAL Sepsi to learn about Roma inclusion, and took a meaningful study visit to Săcele to explore minority rights and heritage preservation. Led the Way: We put our training into immediate practice by designing and running live workshops for local youth and co-designing future international partnerships.
Beyond the deep learning, the true magic was in the connections.
From a lively city treasure hunt to a spectacular Intercultural Evening where we shared traditions from across Europe, a group of strangers quickly became a tight-knit family. We even got to clear our heads together exploring the beautiful streets of Brașov and Bran Castle!
We were returning home with full hearts, inspired minds, and a powerful toolkit ready to foster true equality and understanding right here in our local communities. 💛💚❤️
