🇱🇸 Strengthening partnerships for agricultural transformation

A delegation from the Kingdom of Lesotho has successfully concluded a strategic study tour in Peru (2–9 May 2026) focused on advancing the country's potato sector under the One Country One Priority Product(OCOP) initiative.
The visit brought together Government representatives, researchers, and farmer representatives from both countries to exchange knowledge and explore how Peru’s globally recognized potato innovations can be adapted to Lesotho’s unique agricultural context.
Organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through its South–South and Triangular Cooperation Programme, in collaboration with Peru’s Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, INIA, and CIP, the mission highlighted the power of innovation and international partnerships.
Both Lesotho and Peru have identified potato as a priority crop, recognizing its key role in improving food security, nutrition, and rural livelihoods.
