Pheha Plastic

Pheha Plastic Pheha Plastic is a new recycling (not-for-profit) company, established in partnership with Hirundo Le

The bulk of what we do comes down to the use of three machines that transform plastic through a process of shredding and heating, thereby creating beautiful and useful products out of discarded plastic. Our mission is to create a greener Lesotho through plastic recycling.
- Clean up the environment (creating more beautiful communities)
- Divert plastic from becoming trash and polluting the enviro

nment
- Engage community members in environmental action through awareness campaigns, clean-ups and work-shops
- Provide sustainable plastic waste management options for households and businesses. VISION
In addition to being a regional recycling centre, we aim to provide an economic boost to the community of Morija and surrounding villages. Though we are starting small, our aim is to increase our production capacity to create employment for local people – both through the collection of plastic, and as part of our production staff. An essential part of our vision is the establishment of an on-going recycling outreach program (“Plastic Reach”) to be introduced in schools and community centers around the country. The aim of these sessions will be to raise awareness for environmentalism and also to encourage every-day climate activism that centers on taking action to improve our communities. By adding value to plastic, we aim to change the way it is regarded in our society so that it is collected instead of disposed of. Plastic can then be delivered to our premises in exchange for credit, tokens or vouchers.

♻️ Plastic is not waste — it is an opportunity.

Every plastic bottle, container, or wrapper has the potential to become something useful instead of ending up in our streets, rivers, and landscapes. At Pheha Plastic, we believe that through education, innovation, and community action, we can transform waste into value and build a cleaner, greener Lesotho.

Remember the 5Rs:
🚫 Refuse
⬇️ Reduce
🔄 Reuse
♻️ Recycle
🌱 Rot

Together, we can create cleaner communities, protect our environment, and inspire the next generation to take action.

💚 A clean Lesotho starts with us.

80% of Lesotho’s garbage goes uncollected.
That means illegal dumps. Open burning. Smoke in our lungs. Waste in our rivers.
This isn’t just about plastic. This is about public health, our land, our future.

At Pheha, we recycle plastic. But we also
Educate and Advocate because the real fix is bigger than one material.

We need systems. We need awareness. We need all of us.

Read the article. Then let’s talk solutions. Because “losing control” isn’t a fate - it’s a wake-up call.

Lesotho is losing control of its waste, with 80 percent of the country’s annual garbage going uncollected and ending up in illegal dumpsites and open burning sites. This failure is creating immediate public health risks, exposing healthcare workers and waste pickers to contaminated needles and inf...

We didn’t disappear — we are building something bigger.

Pheha Plastic is evolving from a recycling initiative into an Educational Hub focused on learning, innovation, community empowerment, and sustainable impact.

This is more than a rebrand.
It is a strategic pivot toward shaping minds, transforming communities, and creating a cleaner, greener Lesotho.

New chapter. Same mission. Bigger impact.

🇱🇸🤝🇪🇺 Bridging the Local and the Global

This week, Ambassador Mette Sunnergren hosted an inspiring celebratory lunch for Mokhali F. Shale, newly selected as one of only 25 global leaders for the 2026-2028 Global alongside & local members, Mpho Lebesa and Limpho Thoahlane.

We were honoured to be joined by Principal Secretary for Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation, Mahlapane Makakole-Bodiba; UNICEF Lesotho Deputy Representative Bob Muchabaiwa, and Iom Lesotho Representative Masoai Dennis.

Mokhali's journey is rooted in his work with the Lesotho , our dedicated local platform in where we partner with UNICEF Lesotho and Iom Lesotho. It is here that young changemakers organise, collaborate, and favour bold new ideas, creating a vital pipeline between grassroots action and high-level international policy.

The mission of the global Youth Sounding Board is to put youth voices at the heart of the EU's work worldwide. By ensuring our external actions are more inclusive and impactful, Mokhali and his global cohort are making sure young people aren't just observers, they are the architects of .

King Moshoeshoe I and our great forefathers lived in harmony with nature.

They understood the importance of protecting our land and water resources, ensuring they were preserved for future generations.
Today, we continue to benefit from their wisdom—through industries, household use, and many other ways that natural resources support our daily lives.

This Moshoeshoe’s Day, ReNOKA invites you to join the conversation on how we can all play a role in protecting Lesotho’s land and water at the Farmers Market in the garden of Alliance Française de Maseru.

Visit the market from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM to do your shopping and also for a chance to interact with our exhibition and learn why Lesotho’s natural resources matter.
