SWAL- Is a national association of social workers in Lesotho, who are united in pursuit of the social work profession's recognition in Lesotho and beyond, through advocacy, community outreach and research. SWAL's corner stone is promotion of all people's welfare in an effort to allow each person's drive to self-actualisation. We believe that everyone has inherent worth and dignity as an individual, hence all efforts should be put on table to ensure that each person attains his or her dreams.

SOCIAL WORKERS ASSOCIATION LESOTHO, held a community gathering focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at Ha Mants’ebo.During the session, we educated community members about GBV, different forms of abuse, and their rights and responsibilities. We shared referral pathways, including chiefs, CGPU, clinics, and social workers, to ensure continued support and action.

As SWAL, we stand against GBV in all its forms. We are dedicated to advancing knowledge about GBV and ensuring that those experiencing it, can get the services they need.

To end GBV, does not take a single sector, but its a continued collaboration among various actors in our society.

Remember to report all cases, and be brave to stand against GBV. Its is possible to bring it to an END!

*Good morning Leaders!*

On behalf of the newly elected interim committee;
I wish to take this moment to thank you all who made it to our last gathering and everyone else who contributed to the success of our function.

I wish to further guarantee and notify you that, we take this oath to dedicate and invest all our efforts and time to the success of Social work in our country. We do not only take this as a way of earning tittles and fame within the members of the profession but we take it as a will which we are prepared and ready to sweat and go through thorns and bushes for. We are on a mission to ignite purpose, regenerate social work profession and restore the dignity of our mighty and noble profession that has been long underrated.

I wish to also appeal to you all that this is not and will never be an easy journey but shall be made easy with unity and support of our common goal social workers. I therefore call upon your support and dedication countrywide towards every move that our leadership shall deem necessary towards the achievement of our success goals.

Good day Social Workers.

Please note that an interim Executive Committee has been elected, which will run the affairs of the association from now until the end of March 2026, when the financial year ends.

Mr Katiso Peete is the President.

Ms. Mantema Khetheng is the Vice president.

Ms. Matseliso Letsoara is the Secretary
Ms Nothema Sixishe - vice secretary

Mr. Moletsane Sejojo is the Treasurer,

PRO- Mr Mathunya.

Advisory members:
Ms Likeleli Mofolo and Ms Sebolelo Lekhotla- responsible for community development/outreaches

Mr Kabelo Matsoso- responsible for the fundraising

Mr Thabang Hloele- stakeholders engagement including liaising with institutions of higher learning offering social work training.

Today Social Workers Association Lesotho held its ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The key highlights of the AGM:
The update on the Bill for establishment of the Lesotho Council For Social Work Profession. A great step which will see the regulations of the practice of Social Work in Lesotho.

Elections of the interim Executive committee, which shall run the affairs of the association for the remaining months before the financial year of the association ends on 31 March 2026.
This is the Executive committee that will also lead preparations for the 2026 Commemoration of World Social Work Day.
