Women in Business, Informal Economy & Tax Inclusion — Bridging the Gap

I had the opportunity to contribute to discussions at the International Women’s Day Conference (IWDC-2026), representing VisionAfric-Lesotho and focusing on a critical shift for SMMEs - moving from informal activity to structured economic participation.

A key takeaway:
Every transaction - from sourcing to sales - creates data. When captured effectively, this becomes the foundation for:
• Market access
• Business credibility
• Financial inclusion
• Tax awareness and participation

The challenge is not that businesses are inactive, it is that their activity is not always structured or visible.

Bridging this gap is essential to unlock growth opportunities and enable meaningful participation in both local and regional markets.

WHEN TALENT TOOK THE STAGE 🎭🔥
VisionAfric-Lesotho Lesotho, in partnership with Creative Minds Entertainment, looks back on a powerful two-day Theatre Festival at NULIS where Basotho heritage met African womanhood, and raw talent became a statement.

The competition was tight.
The stories were real.
The talent? Market-ready. 💸

Through theatre, dance, poetry, drama, and focused performance workshops, young creatives from Lesotho and South Africa proved one thing clearly: the creative economy is not coming, it’s here.

✨ Defining milestones
• The launch of the African Film & Talent Academy (Lesotho), turning talent into a profession
• Activation of the IEDF Health & Wellness Programme, demonstrating how creativity, entrepreneurship, and wellbeing intersect

This was more than a festival.
It was proof of concept.

Basotho youth rose.
Culture converted to opportunity.
Re ea pele. 🇱🇸🔥

The 06th - 07th Dec, 2025 - What a massive weekend it has been!
Saturday, the competition was tighter than your December budget 😅… and Sunday? Re bone ha talenta e patala li bill 💸!

Creatives from Vaal (South Africa), Butha-Buthe, Leribe, Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, and Maseru came through and showcased pure fire on stage - theatre, dance, poetry, drama… everything!

This weekend proved, once again, that the power of collaboration and cooperation ke ntho e kholo.

A huge thank you to:

Without all of you, this Festival would not have come alive...
Re re tanki ha ’ngoe, tanki habeli, tanki hararo! 🙌

This Theatre Festival was a powerful demonstration of how entrepreneurship, the creative sector, and health & wellness programmes can come together to build vibrant, resilient societies.

It also marked the achievement of two major milestones for Lesotho:
✨ The Launch of a Lesotho-based Film & Talent Academy
💚 The Launch of the Informal Economy Development Forum (IEDF) Health & Wellness Strategy

Basotho youth are rising. The creative economy is waking up. Re ea pele! 🇱🇸🔥
