On the 29th May 2026, Touch Roots Africa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, proudly commemorated Menstrual Hygiene alongside Berea High School, Makola High School, and Cenez High School in a celebration dedicated to uplifting and empowering the girl child. ❤️ Through performances, education, health services, and meaningful conversations, learners were reminded that menstruation is natural and should never be a source of shame or limitation.
Girls were provided with packs of sanitary pads during the event, while various stakeholders came together to provide support and important health services for the children. We extend our sincere appreciation to Blue Ribbon for donating 145 loaves of bread, Maluti Mountain Brewery for donating 400 sanitary pads, and Shoprite for providing a soup truck for the learners. 🙏🏽
We also appreciate the presence and support from AHF Lesotho, Holy Family Clinic, DHMT Berea, Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development, EGPAF, LENEPHWA, Riders for Health, Mothers2Mothers, Kick4Life, Amazing Zone, as well as Public Eye and The Reporter for covering the event. Together, we continue creating safe spaces where girls are celebrated, supported, educated, and empowered.

Menstrual Hygiene Day reminds us that periods are natural, and no girl or woman should feel ashamed because of them. Access to menstrual products, proper sanitation, education, and support is not a privilege - it is a basic right.

At Touch Roots Africa, we continue to advocate for dignity, confidence, and equal opportunities for every girl. By breaking the silence and ending stigma, we create safer spaces where young people can grow, learn, and thrive without limitations. 🩸✨

It involves using clean sanitary products, changing them regularly, and maintaining proper body care to prevent infections and support everyday well-being at school, work, and home. When we understand and practice good menstrual hygiene, we promote confidence, comfort, and informed communities.

Touch Roots Africa conducted an advocacy meeting with Berea, Makola, and Cenez High Schools in Berea District, bringing together key stakeholders including the Berea District Education Office, the Learner Welfare and Care Unit of the Ministry of Education and Training, Mabote Filter Clinic, and Holy Family Clinic. The meeting focused on strengthening linkages between schools and health facilities to improve learner access to essential health services. Discussions emphasized the importance of referral forms and commemorating health days as practical ways to increase uptake of health and support services for learners. Through collaboration and shared solutions, stakeholders took meaningful steps toward building safer, healthier, and more supportive environments for learners and young people. Together, we are strengthening systems, empowering learners, and driving lasting change.
