What we asked for vs what they delivered.

For the Day of the African Child, we asked the Girls for Girls Club at Soofia International School to reflect on this year’s theme, “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa,” and connect it to what it means them and in their school.

They understood the assignment and carried the vision beautifully.

Children understand dignity when we give them space to express it.

As part of our Day of the African Chil reflection, children used drawings to show what the 2026 theme means to them: access to water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health.

Through their drawings, they showed taps, clean water, toilets, handwashing, underwear, menstrual products, and the Lesotho flag. In their own simple and powerful way, they reminded us that dignity is not an abstract idea. It is seen in clean hands, safe toilets, soap, water, privacy, and the ability to manage menstruation without shame.

For Maleah Foundation, this is the heart of the message. Children are not only beneficiaries. They are voices. They know what they need to feel safe, healthy, confident, and included.

This Day of the African Child calls us to listen to children and act on what they are showing us.

Dignity starts with access!!!

Child labour is a violation of children’s rights and a form of abuse that robs children of dignity, education, health and a safe future.

On this we are reminded that children belong in classrooms, safe homes and playgrounds, not in fields, factories or exploitative work.

Let us protect children, promote their wellbeing, and support decent work for adults so that no child is forced into labour.

The Women's Health Day Lesotho logo embodies the values at the heart of our movement: health, dignity, protection, empowerment, and sustainable development.
Each symbol was thoughtfully chosen to reflect the strength, resilience, and experiences of Basotho women. From the iconic Mosotho hat to the symbols of healthcare, womanhood, growth, and protection, every element tells a story of hope, healing, and empowerment.
Together, we remain committed to advancing women's health, promoting access to quality healthcare, and creating opportunities for women and girls to thrive.

Today, our volunteer, Mammota Selemo, participated in the Anti-Doping Capacity-Building Workshop hosted by the Lesotho National Olympic Committee at Scripture Union.

We are proud to share that, following her participation and commitment to clean sport, Mamosa has been appointed as the Federation of DanceSport Lesotho Anti-Doping Officer.

This is a proud moment for Maleah Foundation. It speaks to the growth, discipline, and leadership of young people when they are given space to learn, serve, and lead.

Congratulations, Mamosa. We are proud of you.🎉🎉🎉

This video feature is an important reminder that menstruation is not a private struggle that girls must carry in silence. It is a social justice issue that needs families, schools, communities, government, and partners to respond with care and urgency.

A special shout out to “I Choose To Act” Network of Friends for their generous donation towards securing pads for adolescent girls.

Period dignity begins with care, not just donation.

When we give period products to girls, we must do our research and ask ourselves: Would I use this product, and would I give it to my own daughter? If the answer is NO, then it should not be given to a vulnerable girl.

This is why Maleah Foundation is happy to partner with Dear Bella Lesotho , a brand that supports adolescent girls with comfort, dignity, and confidence.

Meet Mohleka. During our Safe Period Hangout, he reminded us why boys must be included in menstrual health awareness and education. While making menstrual bracelets, he asked for extra beads so he could teach his 18-year-old sister at home. That moment showed us that boys are not just watching from the side. When included, they listen, learn, and carry the message into their homes. At Maleah Foundation, we believe boys are allies in ending period stigma through shared knowledge, respect, and open conversations.

We often hear that many adolescents are scared to approach nurses because they fear they will be judged, dismissed, or met with too much seriousness.

This was not the case during our Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration. We could not have asked for a better nurse from Vitality Health . She was warm, friendly, welcoming, and full of laughter. She created a safe space for the girls to learn, ask questions, and feel comfortable talking about their bodies.

She spoke to the learners about menstruation, period pains, and practical tips on how to manage them. These are the kind of health conversations young people need, conversations that are clear, kind, and free from shame.

Thank you to Vitality Health Lesotho for supporting our work and for showing us what adolescent-friendly health care can look like. Our girls deserve health workers who make them feel seen, heard, and safe.
