✊ Solidarity with teachers in Bolivia
We stand with Bolivian educators and with our colleagues in CTEUB Confederación de Trabajadores de Educación Urbana de Bolivia, facing violence, repression, and uncertainty amid the current crisis. Many teachers and unionists are under pressure simply for defending their rights. Education International Latin America (Internacional de la Educación) has called on the Bolivian authorities to respect the agreements signed, listen to educators, and stop repression.
Teachers deserve safety, dignity, and dialogue — not fear.
You are not alone. 🌍✊

📢 The International Court of Justice has confirmed that the right to strike is protected under Convention No. 87 of the International Labour Organization!

🗨️ "This is a victory not only for workers, but for every student and community that depends on strong public education. When educators have the right to strike, they have the power to stand up for their students, to demand the resources they need, and to defend education as a fundamental right and public good. Freedom of association means nothing without the ability to strike—and today, that principle has been affirmed.”
- David Edwards, Education International General Secretary

Day 2 of the John Thompson Fellowship (JTF) mentorship programme marked an important milestone with the launch of the West African Young Members Network (WAYEN).
Speaking at the event, Dr. Dennis Sinyolo, Regional Director of Education International Africa, emphasised the importance of young educators actively engaging in union structures and activities. This, he noted, is essential to groom the next generation of leaders and strengthen education unions across the region.
The initiative reflects a strong commitment to youth inclusion, leadership development, and building vibrant education union movements in West Africa.
