🎉 The Life Skills Training and Resource Manual launched!

On 15 April 2026, the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development (Department of Youth) and UNICEF unveiled this powerful new tool at Khutsong Lodge — designed to equip young people with skills for confidence, decision-making, and community leadership.

Dr. Johane Mahao highlighted key focus areas: self-awareness, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking.

AGYW+ Lead, Puseletso Matela shared how the manual has transformed her own confidence and growth, urging other youth to engage with it.

UNICEF’s Dr. Muchabaiwa and Lesotho Distance Teacher Centre Director Mrs. Thari stressed the need for collaboration to integrate life skills into education and youth programs.

This launch marks a big step for youth empowerment in Lesotho. Let’s work together to ensure every young person benefits. 💪

Harnessing Africa's Demographic Dividend with Sound Policies and Frameworks on Reproductive Health
Date: 8-10 April 2026
Venue: Lusaka, Zambia

Africa’s demographic future will be shaped by how effectively it responds to the needs of its young people—particularly adolescent girls and young women. At the 1st Continental Conference for Non-State Actors on the Demographic Dividend and Reproductive Health, convened by AUDA-NEPAD, this message was clear:
Women are not just beneficiaries of development—they are leaders of it.

Matseliso Mokitimi, a member of AGYW+ Foundation, brought forward the lived realities of young women during a high-level lightning panel discussion, highlighting the contributions that women’s movements have made to drive the demographic dividend agenda and reproductive health:

✅ Women’s movements are driving peer-led advocacy and service delivery
✅ Community-based approaches are proving critical in reaching underserved populations
✅ Young women are shaping accountability systems that demand better from health and governance structures

The conference also showcased continental initiatives that offer pathways for scaling impact, reinforcing the importance of locally driven solutions with global relevance.
The Lusaka Call to Action further cements a shared commitment to:
🌍 Meaningful inclusion of women and girls in decision-making spaces
🌍 Increased investment in grassroots initiatives
🌍 Stronger accountability to ensure no one is left behind

For AGYW+ Foundation Lesotho, this moment represents reaffirmation of purpose: to continue amplifying the voices, leadership, and rights of young women at every level.

From Our Homes to Online Spaces — No Room for Violence, No Room for Silence

As we observe (25 Nov – 10 Dec) and commemorate on 1 Dec, AGYW+Foundation Lesotho stands united to highlight two urgent truths:

1️⃣ Violence against women and girls is no longer just physical — it has moved into our devices, our chats, our feeds. This year’s global call to “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against ALL Women & Girls” reminds us: online abuse, harassment, deepfakes, cyber-stalking, and digital coercion threaten our safety, dignity, and mental health. Let’s make digital spaces as safe as our homes.

2️⃣ The HIV response is under pressure — services disrupted, resources shrinking. On World AIDS Day 2025, under the theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response”, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that AGYW have access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and support.

✊🏽 We call on our community — parents, youth, leaders, tech-users — to be part of the solution:
• Challenge abuse — online or offline — whenever you see it.
• Promote respect, consent, and digital safety.
• Support AGYW to access SRHR and HIV services and stand against stigma.
• Turn words into action: Report digital abuse. Demand safe online policies. Demand accessible health & HIV services for all.
Because every girl deserves to live free from violence — in real life and online. And every young woman deserves access to health, dignity, and life.

Happy International Youth Day!
