NOTICE OF RESCHEDULING – WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY COMMEMORATION

Youth Home Lesotho – Berea Chapter would like to inform members, partners, supporters, and the general public that the World Menstrual Hygiene Day Commemoration that was scheduled to take place on 10 June 2026 at Mokoallong Government Primary School, Mapoteng, Berea, has been postponed and will be held after schools reopen.

This decision was made due to unforeseen challenges that affected our preparations and the successful implementation of the activity. We believe that rescheduling the event will allow us to deliver a more impactful and meaningful programme for the learners and the school community.

We remain fully committed to promoting menstrual health, dignity, and confidence among young girls and ensuring that no girl misses school because of her period.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has already expressed interest in supporting this initiative through donations, partnerships, and words of encouragement.
Your support remains highly appreciated, and we continue to welcome contributions of sanitary pads and financial donations as we prepare for the new date.
The revised date will be communicated in due course.

Together, we can ensure that every girl has access to menstrual hygiene products and the support she needs to thrive.

WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY COMMEMORATION 2026

Although World Menstrual Hygiene Day has passed, the conversation and action cannot stop.

Youth Home Lesotho – Berea Chapter will commemorate this important day by visiting Mokoallong Government Primary School, Mapoteng, Berea on 10 June 2026 to support young girls through menstrual health awareness and sanitary pad donations.

Many girls continue to miss school simply because they lack access to sanitary products and safe spaces to discuss menstrual health.

Together, we can help change that.
We are therefore calling upon individuals, members, businesses, partners, and well-wishers to support this initiative through:
- Donating sanitary pads
- Financial contributions (any amount matters)
- Supporting awareness and dignity for young girls

Your contribution, no matter how small, can help keep a girl in school, protect her dignity, and build her confidence.

Let us come together and ensure that no girl misses school because of her period.
For donations and support, kindly contact the Berea Chapter team.

Empower the Dream. Embrace the Future.

MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

This month, Youth Home Lesotho joins the global community in raising awareness about men’s mental health and encouraging open conversations around emotional wellbeing.

Too often, men and boys are expected to stay silent about their struggles. We want to remind every young man that strength is not silence, and seeking support is not weakness.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or status. Together, we can create safe spaces where young people feel supported, heard, and understood.

- Talk openly
- Support one another
- Seek help when needed
- Prioritize your mental wellbeing

Remember: Your mental health matters. You matter.

Let us continue building communities where young people feel safe to speak, heal, and grow.

MENTAL HEALTH & UNEMPLOYMENT

Youth Home Lesotho is proud that our Vice Chairperson for Leribe Chapter, Mrs. Makatleho Makateng, participated in an important webinar discussion focusing on Mental Health and Unemployment.

The discussion highlighted a painful reality faced by many young people today: unemployment does not only affect finances, it also affects mental health.

Many young people experience stress, anxiety, frustration, depression, and feelings of worthlessness due to:
- Inability to meet everyday needs
- Constant job application rejections
- Pressure from society and families
- Uncertainty about the future

During the discussion, participants were encouraged to recognize and use their skills to create opportunities for themselves rather than waiting for opportunities to always come from elsewhere.

Mrs. Makateng also shared her personal experience about the realities of depression among young people and how stigma and lack of awareness can delay support when it is needed most.

As Youth Home Lesotho, we believe that conversations around mental health should not remain silent conversations.

Let us continue raising awareness, supporting one another, and creating safe spaces where young people can speak openly about mental health.
Because mental health matters. Because young people matter.
