LIBERIA UNITES POSITION STATEMENT ON THE PUBLIC HUMILIATION AND ASSAULT OF A WOMAN AT RED LIGHT MARKET IN PAYNESVILLE ON MAY 7, 2026

Liberia Unites strongly condemns the disturbing and inhumane incident that occurred yesterday at the Red Light Market in Paynesville, where a group of street vendors reportedly attacked a woman, stripped her naked publicly, and subjected her to humiliation and disgrace over allegations of indecent dressing.

This act was not only barbaric and unlawful, but also a complete violation of the victim’s fundamental human rights and dignity as a woman and as a Liberian citizen. Such behavior represents a dangerous form of gender-based violence that has no place in a peaceful and democratic society.

No individual or group has the legal or moral authority to publicly assault, shame, or brutalize another human being under any circumstance. The culture of mob justice, bullying, intimidation, and violence against women must be rejected by every well-meaning Liberian.

Liberia Unites therefore calls on the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, the Liberia National Police, the Ministry of Justice, and all relevant state authorities to immediately intervene, conduct a full-scale investigation, and ensure that all perpetrators involved are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Liberia. Justice delayed in matters such as this only encourages future acts of violence and impunity.

As a nation, Liberia has endured painful years of violence, abuse, and the degradation of women and girls during periods of instability and conflict. The mistreatment of women has historically stained our national image and negatively characterized our society before the international community. It is therefore deeply troubling that in a time when Liberia is striving toward peacebuilding, reconciliation, and social transformation, such cruel acts continue to occur openly in our communities.

Violence against women, whether through public humiliation, domestic abuse, bullying, harassment, or intimidation — creates fear, trauma, insecurity, and social division. It weakens families, damages communities, and threatens the moral fabric of our society. We must collectively raise a generation that values human dignity, mutual respect, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
Liberia Unites views this incident as a direct undermining of ongoing peacebuilding efforts and civic education initiatives aimed at promoting nonviolence, respect for human rights, and responsible citizenship across Liberia. We remain steadfast in our commitment to advocating for justice, peace, reconciliation, and the protection of vulnerable people within our society.

We stand in solidarity with the victim and all women and girls who continue to suffer violence and humiliation in silence. We call on community leaders, religious institutions, youth groups, civil society organizations, and ordinary citizens to speak out against all forms of gender-based violence and to promote a culture of accountability and respect.
Liberia cannot truly progress while women continue to live under fear, abuse, and public degradation. The time to act is now.

Signed:

Nurturing Leaders, Transforming Communities:
The Zazay Community Experience

Today, we had the privilege of engaging with 40 inspiring young people from the Zazay Community in Paynesville through the Children and Youth Educational Pathway (CYEP) Leadership Institute one day youth Leadership Training. This youth-led initiative, organized by one of our very own volunteers, Christian, reflects the true spirit of community-driven impact we champion at Liberia Unites.

For an hour and a half, we shared insights on leadership, civic responsibility, and the power of collective action. Moments like these reaffirm our commitment to strengthening communities by equipping young people with the mindset and tools to lead positive change.

We extend our sincere appreciation to CYEP for the opportunity and for creating such a meaningful platform. We are especially proud to witness Christian’s growth—from a dedicated volunteer within Liberia Unites to a changemaker actively shaping the future of Liberian youth. His journey is a testament to what intentional engagement and mentorship can achieve.

It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm of the participants, many of whom expressed interest in joining Liberia Unites, with several already connecting with us online. This growing network of passionate young leaders gives us hope for a stronger, more united Liberia.

At Liberia Unites, we remain committed to fostering leadership, promoting active citizenship, and building resilient communities—one youth at a time.

Serving with Purpose: Liberia Unites at the 2026 Work of His Blood Experience

Yesterday, Liberia Unites proudly stood in service and solidarity at the Good Friday Work of His Blood Experience 2026 held at Freedom Worship Center.

In alignment with our mission to promote peace, reconciliation, and national healing, we engaged with over 500 worshipers—demonstrating the power of unity through service.

As an official partner for this year’s edition, we deployed 13 dedicated volunteers who served diligently as protocol officers, ushers, database clerks, cleaners, and supervisors. Their commitment reflects the heart of our movement—youth-led, purpose-driven, and nation-focused.

The event was a vibrant expression of faith and culture, featuring powerful ministrations from some of Liberia’s finest gospel artists, a spirit-filled mass choir, impactful exhortations, uplifting comedy, and energetic dance moments that brought color and life to the gathering.

We are especially honored by the recognition and encouragement from the Lead Convener, Minister Marcus Graham, whose appreciation of our contribution inspires us toward even greater service in the future.

Beyond the event, this gathering created meaningful opportunities to build networks, share contacts, and further position Liberia Unites as a growing force for positive youth engagement. With over 67% youth participation and representation from nearly all tribes across Liberia’s political subdivisions, it was truly a moment of national unity.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the organizing team for the opportunity to serve, to our incredible volunteers for their excellence and dedication, and to Minister Marcus Graham for trusting and partnering with our movement.

Together, we are building bridges, fostering unity, and advancing a peaceful Liberia—one act of service at a time.

Putting smiles on the faces of over 87 kids at HPS this Easter season was truly inspiring.
Liberia Unites and the Endtime Movement held a joint Easter outreach that provided snacks, Christian storybooks, and gifts to the children.
It was a joyful moment.

Dust rose from the excitement caused by jumping, shouting, cheering, running around, playing, singing, and lots of fun.

This final engagement for the month was genuinely amazing and very impactful. Too much energy from the kids🥰😂🤣😍

Today, Liberia Unites, in collaboration with the Endtime Movement—an initiative led by our Head of Volunteers, Miss Ophelia Flomo—had the privilege of sharing love and joy with over 87 amazing children from nursery through 6th grade at Honoree Preparatory School.

Through this initiative, the children received gifts donated by Samaritan's Purse to the Endtime movement, Bible story books and snacks provided by Liberia Unites as a token of the hope, love, and beautiful memories that define the Easter season. It was more than just giving—it was about connection, compassion, and creating moments that will stay with these young hearts for a long time.
This initiative served as a reminder that small acts of kindness can spark lasting joy, strengthen community bonds, and inspire hope in the next generation.

The excitement on the children’s faces was priceless, and the gratitude expressed by their parents reflected how meaningful this gesture was to their families. The school’s administration also shared deep appreciation for the support and care shown to their students, making the day even more special.
We are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference and remain committed to spreading love, one community at a time.
