Monrovia – NASAPAL CEO Plans Major Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Liberia

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Safety Partnership of Liberia (NASAPAL), Mr. Philip Wood, has disclosed plans to launch a nationwide road safety awareness campaign targeting bike riders and vehicle drivers.

Speaking on the Liberia Broadcasting System (ELBC), Mr. Wood emphasized that the initiative aims to reduce the high rate of road accidents and improve driving conditions across the country. He stressed that the lack of adequate safety education among drivers and motorcyclists has significantly contributed to the increasing number of road mishaps.

Mr. Wood, who spent over two decades in the United States, noted that he is ready to use his influence and international contacts to ensure the success of the program. He added that with the full support of stakeholders, the awareness campaign will go a long way in promoting safer road practices in Liberia.

“I want all Liberians, especially our bike riders and car drivers, to take this campaign seriously,” Mr. Wood urged. He also expressed appreciation to the government of Liberia for its farsightedness and willingness to collaborate with NASAPAL in making the project a reality.

The road safety awareness campaign is expected to roll out next year and will be one of NASAPAL’s biggest initiatives to date.

An LNP update!

The Liberia National Police said “On Friday evening, February 21, 2025, at about 5pm, Officer Gabriel Sampson was seriously injured by a motorcyclist identified as Morris Jeppoe. Jeppoe deliberately ran into a police checkpoint near the Craft Art Shop in Congo Town.

Despite Officer Sampson efforts to avoid the motorcyclist, Jeppoe inflicted intentional injuries, resulting in a severe fracture to the officer's right leg.

Officer Sampson is currently undergoing treatment in the trauma ward at JFK. We wish him a swift recovery.
This incident highlights the troubling trend of lawlessness being meted out against LNP officers by motorcyclists”
